In this hilarious farce, an incredibly shy young man tries to avoid social interactions by pretending to be a foreigner who speaks no English. As people speak freely around him, he learns a variety of secrets—some frivolous and some dangerous. He also discovers an adventurous extrovert hidden within himself, setting up the wildly funny climax in which things go uproariously wrong for the wicked, while the virtuous emerge triumphant.

Directors Sought for 2020 Season at Mason Community Players

MCP_logoMason Community Players is seeking directors for the 2020 Season. Directors should propose show(s) that they would like to direct. There is an online form to complete. Those links do not always translate well, so if you are interested in directing please e-mail Laureen Catlin, laureen.catlin@gmail.com, and she will e-mail access to the form directly to you. The form requests information about the play(s) you wish to submit, as well as, information about your experience in theatre.

MCP’s venue has a playing area with approximately 34 feet of width and approximately 24 feet of depth. The house can accommodate up to 150 audience members.

Musical submissions are welcome, but multiple settings require a great deal of creativity.

MCP provides producers, welcomes the artistic and creative individuals with whom the director would like to work, and fills the remaining staff roles through its membership.

Sensitive to our community, MCP does need to be mindful of adult subjects and language.

The deadline for submission is October 29, 2018.

Auditions Announced for SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY: A Salute to the USO at Mason Community Players

MCP_logoPlease come join the cast of SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY: A Salute to the USO as MCP steps back in time to the 1940’s. The show is a salute to the brave servicemen and women in a re-creation of a World War II USO canteen, where soldiers gathered to relax and be entertained. The show consists of song, dance and comedic acts of the WWII era.

Auditions will be held Friday, September 7th from 7-10pm and Saturday, September 8th from 1-4pm. Callbacks only (if needed) will be Tuesday, September 11th. Time for callbacks will be shared with those requested to attend.

Performers can audition in one or more categories of interest: singers, dancers, and/or actors. Those who wish to act should be prepared for a cold reading. Those who would like to sing should provide sheet music from World War 2 era song in the appropriate key and be prepared to sing 16 to 32 bars from the piece. Dancers should be prepared to learn and perform a brief dance routine. Tap or swing experience is a bonus, but not necessary.

The first cast meeting will be Thursday, September 13th from 7-9pm.

Directors Ann Sullivan and Perry Gary would love to welcome you to auditions along with Producer Matt Lisa, Musical Directors Lara Gonzalez and Pete Padolik and Choreographer Laureen Catlin.

SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY: A Salute to the USO will be presented November 9, 10, 16 & 17 at 8:00 PM and November 11 and 18 at 2:00 PM at Theatre 42, 2752 US Route 42, Lebanon, OH 45036.

This is a play-within-a-play, based on Cervantes’ “Don Quixote.” A poignant story of a dying old man whose impossible dream takes over his mind. It’s All the Same, Dulcinea, I’m Only Thinking of Him, The Impossible Dream, I Really Like Him and Little Bird remain in your thoughts and in your soul well after you see the show. His dream is Everyman’s dream. His tilting at windmills is Everyman’s great adventure. Somehow, the footlights disappear, time is telescoped and the Man of La Mancha.
