Mason Players Presents Fall Show

MCP_Escanaba in da MoonlightMason Community Players Presents ESCANABA IN DA MOONLIGHT by Jeff Daniels

The show will be presented September 8, 9, 14, 15 & 16 at 8PM & September 10 at 2PM at the Mason Community Playhouse – 5529 Mason Road, Mason, OH 45040.

Tickets are $20; Seniors/Students are $15 and are available at MasonPlayers.org.

Escanaba in da Moonlight is a snapshot into the lives of the Soady men. Retreating to their “home away from home” in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan they can spend time together doing their two favorite things … drinking and bagging bucks. At 35, though, Reuben Soady is in danger of being the oldest family member in history without a buck to call his own. Laughs abound as you get a glimpse into this traditional male rite of passage as lived out in the unique “Yooper” way.

The cast includes Mark Culp as Albert Soady, Stephen Catlin as Reuben Soady, Justin Hanks as Remnar Soady, Matt Lovell as Jimmer Negamanee, Jim Cronin as Ranger Tom T. Treado & Jessie Faye as Moon Dance Soady

ESCANABA IN DA MOONLIGHT is directed by Ray Lebowski, produced by Laureen Catlin with assistance by Mary Stan Fizer, and stage managed by Dana Davis.

Mason Community Players Continue Their 50th Anniversary Celebration

MCP_logoThe Mason Community Players is the oldest continually operating community theater organization in Warren County, OH. The group operates and performs at the Mason Community Playhouse, located at 5529 Mason Rd. in Mason, OH. This year the group celebrates 50 years of “play-ing around” with a year long jubilee and shows that highlight five decades of entertainment.

This September, the Mason Community Players will present a hilarious insight into a male rite of passage with Escanaba in da Moonlight. Meet the men of the Soady family, who prefer to remain nestled in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. There, they spend their time drinking, bagging bucks,
and teasing the youngest member of the Soady clan, Reuben, who at 35 years has never bagged a buck of his own. Come visit the Soady cabin and watch a few Yoopers where laughter fires like shots through the woods. See if they find the answer to the age old question, does the buck stop here?

Performances will be at 8:00 p.m. on September 8, 9, 14, 15 & 16, with a matinee performance at 2:00 p.m. on September 10th.

Following Escanaba in da Moonlight, the jubilee celebration concludes with Gender Bender 5.0, a musical review to be performed in October, and November. Tickets are now available for both shows by leaving a message at 513-398-7804 or visiting the website, www.MasonPlayers.org.

Since its creation in 1973, the Mason Community Players has brought more than 120 productions and 30 original musical reviews to audiences in Mason, Ohio. More importantly, the group has become a family for the community, involving people of all ages on stage, backstage, and as spectators. “From our family to yours, we celebrate 50 years of making it possible for everyone to enjoy theater.”
