Second Saturday Fringe Update (Sell-Outs for Sat and SERIALS 3 Titles)

KTC_Serials 3 logoThe final day of the 2015 Cincinnati Fringe Festival is upon us. Sad panda 😦

On Friday, there was one sold out performance, and that was MOONLIGHT AFTER MIDNIGHT. I’d highly encourage you to catch the last performance today EXCEPT, Saturday’s performance has already sold out. Also selling out their final performance today is EDGAR ALLAN.

If only someone had told you that these two were the two most buzzed about shows of the festival a week ago. 🙂

Even with the sold out performances, there are still 21 other fringe shows to choose from today. It’s not too late to get your Fringe on.

During Friday’s Fringe News, the titles and playwrights for SERIALS 3: ROUNDHOUSE were announced.

The twist for this go around, each week they switch which playwright is writing which story, so not even the original authors know where each show is headed.

The titles and starting playwrights are:

  • HANGING WITH BEN from John Bromels
  • #RoxyBalboa from Andy Simpson and Alexx Rouse
  • IN THE WEEDS from Kate Fine
  • THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE ELDERLY from Robert Macke
  • FIRE DOWN BELOW from Ben Dudley

Look for more details on the shows next week, but plan on joining in on the fun. Episode dates are June 29, July 13, Aug. 3, Aug. 17 and Aug. 31. ROUNDHOUSE season passes are available for $60.

Finally, if you need a little help dealing with your post-Fringe blues, the Know Theatre’s bar will be open from noon-6pm on Sunday. Stop down and share your Fringe 2015 war stories over a drink or two.

Know Theatre Announces New Benefit Event This Month

The Cost is Accurate!
A special event in gameshow style, to benefit Know Theatre of Cincinnati

KTC_logoImagine your favorite gameshows from yesterday and today. Now put ‘em in a blender, add some of Know Theatre’s patented unpredictability, and you get The Cost Is Accurate!

This manic gameshow mashup will take place on the Know MainStage on June 25, 2015 at 7pm. Hosted by Know Theatre’s own Chris Wesselman and local indie music star Randy Proctor (previously of The KillTones and The Dukes Are Dead), The Cost Is Accurate will be a wild night of games of chance, games of skill, and games we blatantly rip off from TV history—but presented live onstage, so you get a chance to get in on the action!

Your admission to this fast-paced and funny night of friendly competition earns you the chance to play to win great prizes from Cincinnati business, entertainment venues, and more. Local celebrity guests including rockstar mixologist Molly Wellman and City Council Member Chris Seelbach will also get in on the fun, acting as Showcase Models for all our great prizes.

Indiana Queen to play at Fringe Prom!

Veteran Cincinnati Fringe Festival performer Kevin Thornton’s new alt-country band will rock the house Saturday night in the Know Theatre Underground

Know Theatre is proud to announce that up-and-coming Nashville recording artists Indiana Queen will take the stage Saturday night during Cincinnati Fringe Festival’s Fringe Prom, on May 30 at 11 PM.

Indiana Queen is a new queer alt-country band fronted by longtime Fringe Festival artist Kevin Thornton. Indiana Queen’s music is described as having “traces of Hank Williams,” and “the pulse of ‘Jolene’”, but with a decidedly untraditional flair and rock-and-roll edge. Indiana Queen will be headlining Nashville Pride in June—but you can see them here first, at Know Theatre tomorrow night!

Indiana Queen joins us for our annual Fringe Prom, part of the nightly Bar Series events of the 12th Annual Cincinnati Fringe Festival. Our Fringe Prom theme this year is “Cowboys and Indie Bands,” so feel free to pick out your favorite Western wear, give it some hipster flavor, and rock out to the sweet sounds of Nashville’s kings of queer alt country.

The Cincinnati Fringe Festival runs through June 6th with over 180 performances from 45 productions, featuring more than 230 local, national, and international artists. This year the Festival is set to welcome over 8,000 visitors to Downtown and Over-the-Rhine. Every single night of the Festival, after your shows let out, we’ll be hosting a different Bar Series event, so join us at Fringe Headquarters at Know Theatre of Cincinnati to raise a glass, have some fun, and get a little weird.

Bruce Bane is a hired hand who shoots first and doesn’t ask questions.

Join Joe Bone and Ben Roe for this one man, one musician film noir comedy trilogy. Each installment is about an hour, and can be enjoyed individually as self contained stories, or in any order. (Though there is a special delight to experiencing them sequentially.)

Joe Bone is the Guinness world record holder for most characters portrayed by one actor in an evening. Following each episode will be a talkback about how this story came to be, and the process of touring the world, speaking before international crowds.
