Something is lurking in Loveland, the Sweetheart of Ohio, where the disappearance of a strange old man has rekindled the hysteria surrounding America’s most alluring cryptozoological phenomenon: The Loveland Frog. Join Luke Honeywell and a smokin’ bluegrass band on a riotous river adventure with maniacal moonshiners, crooked cops and the last Twightwee Indian as they rescue Pee Paw from the wondrous and elusive Loveland Frog. Based on true accounts, and featuring an all-star local cast.

A KLINGON CHRISTMAS CAROL Quick-Review

A KLINGON CHRISTMAS CAROL presented by Hugo West Theatricals through Dec. 22

Director Mike Hall and the HWT gang succeed with an ambitious production of this Star Trek-themed take on a holiday classic. The humor of the show works well without being forced or over the top. Kudos to the cast for the effort they put into the production and for tackling the lines in Klingon. Makeup wise, the women’s appliances and overall looks worked well. Some of the men’s appliances though, looked a little worse for wear in places.  The limitations of the performance space resulted in some clunky scene changes which caused the overall pace to fluctuate. Two “issues” that I did have that could be easily addressed would be the skin tone of the Ghost of Kahnless Past. A darker complexion would be a better homage to the original series. Also it would help to temporarily gel the hall light behind the stage exit.

Definitely a fun time for Star Trek fans and non-fans alike. Hearing Burgess Byrd growl “SQuja'” is worth the price of admission alone. K’plah!

Cast: Aiden Sims, Bob Allen, Brian Haller, Burgess Byrd, David Dreith, Eamon Hill, Edmund Charlton, Eileen Earnest, Ginger Stapp, Jim Waldfogle, Lauren Carr, Stephen Marck, Torie Pate Perdue & Don Volpenhein as SQuja’

A retelling of the classic Charles Dickens tale in the original Klingon. All of your favorite characters from A Christmas Carol are here: Scrooge, Cratchit, Tiny Tim, The Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet To Come, Fezziwig, Marley…and they all have weird looking foreheads. The play is presented in the Klingon language, but not to worry! English translation is provided in supertitles so that you can follow along. It’s a one of a kind Holiday experience that you won’t want to miss!

Klingons in Need of Assistance!

HWT_A Klingon Christmas CarolThank you for opening your hailing frequencies! There are some Klingons in need of assistance here in our very solar system! The Imperial Klingon Players are performing the classic tale, A KLINGON CHRISTMAS CAROL, at the Art Academy of Cincinnati this December 11-15 and 18-22, but unfortunately the Art Academy does not recognize gold pressed latinum as currency. In order to assist the Imperial Klingon Players, I have launched a Kickstarter campaign at the link below:

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1429546152/klingons-love-theatre-and-so-do-you/dashboard

Following this link, you will find a number of different rewards that are sure to please even the biggest Scrooge in your family. And since we are headed towards the Holidays, please consider giving one of these rewards as a gift! Who wouldn’t want a hug from a Klingon? Or maybe you’ve always secretly longed to play a Klingon on stage…now’s your chance! There’s also my personal favorite, the Klingon Captain, where you get to deliver an order to the Klingon of your choice at one of our shows! We’ll be adding other rewards very soon, too!

Along with those rewards, our group gets to bring a unique piece of theatre that Cincinnati will remember for years to come. With this funding, we’ll be able to afford the costumes, the wigs, the foreheads (Oh, yes…foreheads!), and everything we need to make this a successful production.

We are days away from our deadline, and we’ve hit 7% of our total goal. With Kickstarter, it’s all or nothing. So if we don’t meet the goal of $3,500 dollars, we won’t get funded. That’s where you come in! Even donating $1 can help us, and will get your name in print for our program as a donor! We appreciate any amount you might be able to give.

Thank you for your consideration. Please share this to anyone you think might be interested, as well. I hope you have a wonderful Holiday season, and I look forward to seeing you in the audience this December!

Regards,
Mike Hall
