HOT L BALTIMORE by Lanford Wilson
10 Men   7 Women

Set in the lobby of a rundown hotel so seedy that is has lost the “e” from its marquee. The play focuses on the decaying, condemned hotel and the upcoming eviction of its residents. Ranging in age from young to old, from defiant to the resigned, these soon-to-be homeless inhabitants meet, talk and interact with each other during the course of one day. This drama/comedy is of the passing events in their lives, of everyday encounters and of the human condition, with conversations often overlapping. The resulting mosaic of each character emerges clearly and is perceptively defined, and the sum total of what they are–or wish they were–becomes a poignant, powerful call to America to recover lost values and to restore itself in its own and the world’s eyes.

Cast Announced for VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE at CenterStage Players

CSPOH_logoCenterStage Players is please to announce the cast for their March production VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE by Christopher Durang.

Featuring:

  • Cassandra: Elizabeth Hickerson
  • Masha: Peggy Allen
  • Nina: Adrianne Maria Boris
  • Spike: Rick Hunt
  • Sonia: Bec Cole
  • Vanya: John McInerney

Director: Richard Zenk
Producer: Fred Hunt

Production Dates: March 15 – 24, 2019

Chekhov is alive and well in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, where adult siblings Vanya and Sonia reside in their old family home, mourning their lost dreams and missed opportunities. When their often-wrong, fortune-telling maid warns of impending dangers, and their movie star sister, Masha, arrives unexpectedly with young, sexy, boy toy, Spike, the family is launched into a rollicking weekend of one-upmanship, exposed nerves, and a lot of broken mugs. With wit and absurdity, Christopher Durang’s Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike blends Chekhov’s famous ennui with the modern-day toils and troubles of celebrity, social networking, and age into a laugh-out-loud comedy that will tickle your funny bone and stimulate your mind.

Saddened that they may not be able to go home for Christmas, the girls and Miss Clavel take to their beds. But on Christmas Eve, the adventure begins when there is a knock at the front door. Expecting to see Santa, Madeline meets the rug merchant who has brought 12 very special rugs. He reminds Madeline that Christmas is the time of miracles, and that these are not ordinary rugs!
