CINCINNATI—Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park’s season of one-week Summer Camps and three-week Performance Academy programs are now on sale at cincyplay.com for 2018. The one-week camps introduce children grades 1 to 10 to the world of art using unique, book-based themes. The three-week Performance Academy enables children in grades 3 to 12 to experience the production of a play from beginning to end. No acting experience is required.

“Your children don’t need to be actors to learn and have fun at our summer camps and performance academy,” says Daunielle Rasmussen, director of education and community engagement. “Each camp introduces or furthers your child’s appreciation of the arts. They also build confidence and encourage creativity.”

The programs focus on developing individual and collective skills in a fun, supportive, process-based environment. The children are grouped by age, with a 10:1 student-to-teacher ratio to provide quality appropriate instruction. The courses are taught by local professional artists and educators.

Each week of summer camp is based on the works of famous authors including J.K. Rowling, Dr. Seuss, Stan Lee and C.S. Lewis. At the end of the camp, children will participate in a 10-minute performance piece for friends and family.

Playhouse in the Park’s 2016 Summer Day Camp Offerings

CINCINNATI PLAYHOUSE IN THE PARK’S 2016 SUMMER THEATRE DAY CAMP FEATURES NEW PERFORMANCE ACADEMY AS WELL AS ONE-WEEK SESSIONS,
JUNE 13 – JULY 29

PIP_logo(CINCINNATI) – Cincinnati’s Tony Award-winning theatre once again offers its popular one-week Summer Theatre Day Camp programs for school-age children this summer, along with an exciting new option: a three-week Performance Academy for young theatre enthusiasts entering grades seven to 12. The Playhouse’s six one-week Theatre Day Camp sessions begin June 13 and continue through July 29; the single three-week Performance Academy runs from July 11 through July 29.

The Performance Academy, geared to middle and high school students, offers the opportunity to create a play from beginning to end. The ensemble will develop a play based on a classic book, creating everything from the script to the sets, costumes and props. The three-week Performance Academy, which runs from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays, will culminate in a performance for friends and family. No audition is necessary.

Theatre Day Camp sessions consist of one-week, full-day sessions from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays for children entering grades one through 12. Each of the six sessions offers acting and improvisation. Other classes may include circus training, Shakespeare, musical theatre, puppetry, playwriting, stage combat, theatre design and more. Because classes and instructors vary for each session, campers interested in participating in multiple camps will have a different experience each week.

In addition to the camp sessions, the Playhouse offers before and after care for parents who need additional schedule flexibility.

All Playhouse camp classes are taught by theatre professionals who bring years of experience and a strong focus in education to their students. The instructors are trained to adjust the classes to challenge all students’ skills and talents. All experience levels are welcome.

Register now for the best availability. The cost is $1,050 for the Performance Academy, and $295 for each session of the Theatre Day Camp.

Before Care (8-9 a.m.) and After Care (4:30-5:30 p.m.) may be added for $30 each per week. Register online at www.cincyplay.com or call the Playhouse Box Office at 513-421-3888.

The Playhouse is supported by the generosity of the community contributors to the ArtsWave campaign.

Auditions Announced for InBocca Performance Summer 2016

IBP_logoIt’s our 20th ANNIVERSARY! That’s right–we’ve been making amazing, wild theatre for TWENTY YEARS, right in your backyard!

To celebrate, we’ll be re-mounting one of our favourite shows: THE MAID OF ORLEANS.

Based around the story of Joan of Arc (called the Maid of Orleans), we re-build the story of Joan’s call to God and to save her beloved France from her childhood and the moment she first heard her Voices to the moment she lost her life for her beliefs.

An amazing lesson in history, bravery, and standing up for what you know is right, we at InBocca Performance combine dance, music, and text to create a truly original, heartbreaking and joyfully beautiful production.

Audition Information:

April 2nd
The Village Players – 8 N. Ft. Thomas Ave., Ft. Thomas, KY
10am-1pm
Auditions are open to grades 3-12

  • Please come prepared to move (in gym clothes) and to speak and sing.
  • Dancers should come prepared to dance, and bring appropriate attire and shoes.

We will be casting 30 children. Even though this is a re-mount, no roles have been pre-cast.

Camp will take place July 11th-Aug. 7th, with performances Aug. 4-7th.

Camp is Monday-Friday, 9am-2pm. Dance rehearsals take place on Saturdays, 9am-12noon.

If you are a college student, and are interested in interning with us, please contact us here, at: info@inboccaperformance.com.

CAN’T WAIT TO SEE YOU THERE!

“I am not afraid. I was born to do this.” -Joan of Arc
