2020-2021 Season Updated at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park

PIP_logoWe hope you and your loved ones are safe and healthy. Your well-being is extremely important to us, and that’s why we’ve made so many changes to our regularly scheduled productions.

We are excited to share that we will now open the 2020-21 season with Agatha Christie’s thrilling MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS, and the humorous and uplifting BECOMING DR. RUTH, presented by The Jewish Foundation of Cincinnati!

This means our trip to the Emerald City in The Wizard of Oz is going to be postponed for a future season. While we will miss going down the Yellow Brick Road this fall, we’re incredibly excited for you to experience this highly anticipated murder mystery. Likewise, our previously scheduled production of the heartfelt and cathartic Tiny Beautiful Things will move later in the 2020-21 season and take the place of the world premiere play Rooted, which we look forward to producing in the future.

2021 Season Announced by Alibi Players

ALIBI_logoAnnouncing the 2021 Alibi Players Season!

Alibi Players is thrilled to announce that due to the success of Incident At Vichy and the generosity of second weekend ticket holders, even with the shortened run due to COVID-19, we will be expanding our 2021 season to two plays. All performances will be at Liberty Exhibition Hall.

January 15-24, 2021
THAT CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON

First up is That Championship Season by Jason Miller. This Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning drama focuses on the 20-year reunion in 1972 of a Pennsylvania State Championship High School basketball team. In one evening the audience discovers that one fleeting moment does not define who we are and that winning at all costs on the court can end up costing you in life.

September 10-19, 2021
THE MEMORY OF WATER

Then, in September of 2021, we will be presenting The Memory of Water by Shelagh Stephenson. A heartwarming dark comedy that revolves around three sisters coming together for their mother’s funeral, this play focuses on perceptions and reminiscences that time tends to play tricks on.

The Telegraph (London) writes “This is a lovely piece, full of humour and heart…Where the play works best is…in its satisfying mixture of sardonic humour and deep emotion. Excellent jokes give way to festering resentments, booze and dope-fuelled hilarity to sudden glimpses of buried secrets and aching pain.”

COVID-19 Update From CenterStage Players

CSPOH_logoLike many of our community theatre colleagues in the greater Cincinnati area, we were saddened when our most recent production was put on hold the night before we opened due to the COVID-19 restrictions put in place by the Governor of Ohio.  While we agree these are necessary to ensure the safety of everyone, it was still difficult knowing the hard work that our cast and crew had put into the development of their program.  CenterStage Players continues to extend our best wishes to everyone and hopes that everyone stays safe during this time of uncertainty.  We look forward to seeing everyone across the area return to the stage as soon as possible.

At this time we are announcing that we are rescheduling our May show along with a change in venue.  HEATHERS The Musical (directed by Amanda Borchers) will now hit the stage on July 2, 3, 5, and 10-12 (barring any governmental or CDC restrictions).  This show will be performed at The Arts Center at Dunham (home of Sunset Players).  Thanks to everyone who was instrumental in keeping this show alive and moving it to the new location.

We are also announcing changes to our 2020-21 season.  Our revised lineup is as follows:

MOMUS & APHRODITE by Fred Rothzeid
A Greek comedy taking place in Athens . . . Ohio!
Directed by Chris Lee
Produced by Kent Smith & Burt McCollum
September 11-20, 2020

MACBETH by William Shakespeare
A modern twist on a classic Shakespeare story
Directed by Tom Peters
