A Cappella Group Raises $7K for Streaming Concert, Extends Campaign Window for Special Viewing of Full Show

No Promises_logoCINCINNATI, OH – In their campaign to “Save Christmas,” NO PROMISES Vocal Band has raised nearly $7,000 from more than 90 supporters to produce a streaming version of their annual “Christmas With NO PROMISES” concert.

The program was filmed at historic Memorial Hall in Over-the-Rhine on Tuesday, November 24, and will be released to campaign supporters circa December 8. Individual song videos will be released progressively in the days leading up to December 23, when the general public will be able to experience the full show for the first time.

A Successful Campaign Extended
Between October 21 and November 19, donors from across the country contributed nearly $7,000 in gifts ranging from $1 – $500 to cover venue rental, audio engineering, video engineering and licensing expenses incurred in creating digital concert. Debbie Hill and Dunrobin & Associates each made leading gifts of $500 as concert sponsors.

With less than a month remaining until the Christmas holiday, NO PROMISES is extending the campaign window to December 23. Fans who missed the initial fundraising period can contribute in any amount to receive special access to the full concert prior to the December 23 public release. This additional support will also help the ensemble defray some unexpected costs, including COVID-19 testing that allowed them to sing together unmasked.

Individuals can support the NO PROMISES Saves Christmas campaign in two ways:

  • Donate via credit card at NoPromisesVocalBand.com and find the “Leave Us A Tip” link.
  • Mail a check to: No Promises Vocal Band, ATTN: Matt Croy, 1480 Shore Drive, Findlay, OH, 45840

2020 Concert Set List
Recorded on November 24 at Cincinnati’s Memorial Hall, the concert consists of ten songs:

  • Tiny Little Christmas – As performed by The Blenders
  • All The Things You Are – As performed by The Singers Unlimited
  • O Holy Night – Traditional
  • Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me) – The Temptations
  • Sunday Morning – Maroon Five
  • River – Joni Mitchell
  • This Christmas – Donnie Hathaway
  • White Christmas – As performed by The Drifters
  • Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas – from MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS

As in their live concerts, members of the group introduce each tune with witty repartee.

Christmas with NO PROMISES – An Aural History
For many, the yearly Christmas With NO PROMISES tour has become one of the most anticipated performances of the year, earning a 2019 nomination by Movers & Makers magazine as Cincinnati’s Top Chamber Music Concert. Past tours have included stops in Dayton, Columbus, Toledo and Findlay, complementing beloved local venues including The Garfield Theater, The Warsaw Federal Incline Theater, and the band’s perennial favorite, Community of the Good Shepherd. THE HALLELUJAH GIRLS Postponed and 2021-2022 Season Announced at Troy Civic Theatre

TROY_logoThe TCT Board has evaluated the circumstances surrounding the intention to present THE HALLELUJAH GIRLS in January as we had planned, and has decided that the risk to our patrons and the actors is too great. The board has also decided to cancel the remaining productions of FARCE OF HABIT and DADDY’S DYIN’, WHO’S GOT THE WILL for the 2020-21 season. We are intending to present the season originally selected for 2020-21 as the 2021-22 season. Exact performance dates are yet to be decided; however, the expected season will be:

  • DADDY’S DYIN’, WHO’S GOT THE WILL in September 2021
  • THE TIN WOMAN in November 2021
  • FARCE OF HABIT in March 2022
  • BONNIE AND CLYDE in May 2022

Cincinnati Ballet Keeps THE NUTCRACKER Magic Alive Despite the Pandemic

cb_NutcrackerAtHome_image 2Audiences will enjoy a free, newly-produced digital version of the holiday favorite

CINCINNATI, OH.  (November 20, 2020) – The holidays would not be complete without The Nutcracker presented by Frisch’s Big Boy, especially during these challenging times. This year everyone in our community will have the opportunity to experience The Nutcracker for free! As we continue to prioritize the health and safety of our dancers, staff, students, and patrons, Cincinnati Ballet is shifting our family tradition from an in-person experience to a digital one, The Nutcracker at Home presented by Frisch’s Big Boy. “Given the ongoing surge in COVID-19 cases across the region, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel all in-person performances of The Nutcracker at Cincinnati Music Hall,” said Cincinnati Ballet President and CEO Scott Altman. “We have a responsibility to the community to do all we can to stop the spread of COVID-19. While we will dearly miss performing for live audiences, we are producing and recording a re-imagined, hour-long performance everyone can enjoy in the comfort and safety of their own homes. We could think of no better gift for the community this holiday season.”

The Nutcracker at Home will be recorded at Cincinnati Music Hall following strict health and safety protocols. The production will feature Artistic Director Victoria Morgan’s whimsical choreography, Main Company dancers, and gorgeous sets and costumes. “All those magical moments we share together each year remain in this production,” said Morgan. “Clara and the Nutcracker Prince, the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier, plus we’ve added a few surprises just for this digital version.” Cincinnati Ballet is also honored to partner with Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra to create a unique recording of Tchaikovsky’s iconic music for this special performance. Cincinnati Ballet Music Director Carmon DeLeone will conduct 35 Symphony musicians for the recording at Music Hall.  There will be several opportunities for the community to view the program. Cincinnati Ballet will announce the details in the coming days. The Nutcracker at Home virtual experience will also include behind-the-scenes, bonus content, as well as the online Nutcracker gift shop on our website, cballet.org.

When Cincinnati Ballet announced the re-imagined 2020-2021 Season, we recognized the challenges in producing live performances during the pandemic and included plans to modify productions based on current circumstances. We so enjoyed creating live performances for Ballet in the Park and Cincinnati Made earlier this season. We continue to plan the remainder of the 2020-2021 Season with live, in-person productions, which will be enhanced by digital offerings for audiences everywhere to enjoy the beauty of dance.
