VP_DarksideDARKSIDE

Fort Thomas

Directed by Michael Morehead

Cast: Ivory Mazur as Ed, Dan Maloney as Bill, Henry Farfsing as Gunner, Merritt Beischel as Gigi, Trisha Cooper as Beth, David Abbott as Capcom & Geoff Amann as Reporter

The fictional 1973 mission of Apollo 18 is met with a crisis when the lunar module rocket engine fails to ignite, stranding two astronauts on the surface of the moon and leaving a third in solo orbit. As they work with ground control toward rescue, flashbacks reveal their stories. Spellbinding and emotional, this gripping story is both a psychological study and an adventure tale. Filled with soul and symbolism, Darkside is a well-crafted mixture of sci-fi, drama and suspense, with plenty of humor to break the tension.

From Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippen, Godspell) and John Caird (Les Miserables, Candide) comes a joyous and inspirational musical about parents, children and faith…not to mention centuries of unresolved family business! Freely based on the story of Genesis, Children of Eden is a frank, heartfelt and often humorous examination of the age-old conflict between parents and children. Adam, Eve, Noah and the “Father” who created them deal with the headstrong, cataclysmic actions of their respective children. The show ultimately delivers a bittersweet but inspiring message: that “the hardest part of love… is letting go.”

MOBY DICK REHEARSED Runs Sept. 26-Oct. 6

NKU_Moby Dick RehearsedMOBY DICK REHEARSED
Presented by Northern Kentucky University
Sept. 26-Oct. 6
Highland Heights

Reviews: Behind the Curtain |

Directed by Michael W. Hatton

An ingenious idea is employed to accommodate the sweep of this classic story on the stage. A Shakespearean company who puts down their rehearsal sides of Lear and curiously take up those of a new play entitled Moby Dick. On the rehearsal stage of platforms, the teasers overhead suddenly become yardarms with sails and a tall ladder becomes a mast. The platforms become the decks of the ship on which the cast sails through the storms and tribulations of the Pequod hunting for Moby Dick.

“Guess we each got a path to walk” says Rose, a young Mexican migrant, lost and longing for a second chance. Paths cross in California in 1938 when Rose finds Margaret Thomas, a displaced Dust-Bowl farm wife grieving the family she lost. Two women, both in need of home and healing of heart, journey on together.  Could a rugged Kansas farmer be the hero who holds the keys of redemption for them both?  Inspired by the Old Testament story of Ruth, and set in the heartland of America during the Great Depression, Horizons of Gold tells an inspiring story of a people who refused to lose sight of the dawn breaking on the horizon.
