DIAL M FOR MURDER Runs Aug. 17-Sept. 15

DIAL M FOR MURDER
Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park
Aug. 17-Sept. 15
Rouse Theatre [Eden Park]

Written by Frederick Knott
Adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher
Directed by Tatiana Pandiani

Cast: Brandon Hearnsberger as Tony Wendice, Justin McCombs as Lesgate, Barry Mulholland as Inspector Hubbard, Geena Quintos as Maxine Hadley & Teresa Zimmermann as Margot Wendice

Murder and malice take center stage in a fresh adaptation of an iconic thriller! The setting is midcentury London. It’s been a year since Margot ended her affair with her lover, Maxine, and returned to life as usual with her husband, Tony — or so she thinks. Tony, in fact, knows about the affair and spins an intricate web of suspicion and deception. When his plan goes terribly awry, it sets in motion a series of deadly, unexpected twists threatening everyone involved. Best known for the 1954 film by Alfred Hitchcock, this masterful murder mystery receives a clever and fast-paced new treatment for the stage. DIAL M FOR MURDER is recommended for ages 13 and up.

THE PROM
Queen City Productions
Aug. 2-11

The Prom tells the story of four washed up Broadway performers looking for a “cause” to boost their public image. They find Emma, a high-schooler in Indiana who was denied the opportunity to take her girlfriend to their prom. Can this motley crew change the minds of the people of the town so that Emma, and anyone who is different, can have the prom they deserve? LOVE’S LABOUR’S LOST Runs Aug. 16-18

SISP_Love Labours LostLOVE’S LABOUR’S LOST
Shakespeare in South Park
Aug. 16-18
South Park Green [Dayton]

Directed by Galen Wilson

King Ferdinand, King of Navarre, decides to have a three year period of study and contemplation at his court. To avoid distraction he imposes a ban on women, who will not be allowed within a mile of the court. One of the courtiers, Berowne, has reservations about the ban on women. He reminds the King that he has an ambassadorial meeting on that very day with the Princess of France. As they prepare to meet the Princess the King sends his court fool, Costard, to Don Armado to be punished, for breaking the rules by dallying with a country girl, Jacquenetta.

The Princess, refused entry to the court, is insulted by the ban, and in protest, she and her entourage camp in tents in front of the court. They begin plotting ways of taking revenge. In the meantime, Don Armado, himself in love with Jacquenetta, lets Costard off his punishment in return for Costard delivering a love letter to her. Before he can deliver it he is approached by Berowne, who asks him to take a letter to Rosaline. Some comic action is set up when Costard gets the letters mixed up. Bring a lawn chair or blanket. Free, donations gratefully accepted.
