Job Title: After School Classes Teaching Artist

Position Overview:
Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park seeks After School Teaching Artists for our 2022-23 Season.

The After School Classes Teaching Artist will join our pool of Teaching Artists and may be offered work teaching a variety of theatre-based afterschool classes during the 2022-23 school year. Teaching Artist may be offered work in any of the schools and organizations we serve which include locations throughout the tri-state area.

The Teaching Artist is responsible for check in and check out, teaching participants, implementing curriculum, communicating with partners onsite at the schools, mentoring Interns, as requested, and collaborating with Playhouse Education Staff and other professional artists. They are responsible for following lesson plans and maintaining a positive and exciting classroom environment.

This is a temporary, seasonal position with an hourly rate of $35. After School Teaching Artist will be paid for teaching time and 30 minutes total of entrance and exit time per day. Hours will be based on individual classes and needs of the school/partner.

This position requires travel to school and community center venues including locations throughout the tri-state area. Qualified candidates must be flexible and able to take After School Classes in a variety of locations, therefore, candidates must possess reliable transportation.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Teach After School classes throughout the tri-state area
  • Implement assigned curriculum and distribute parent guides, student surveys and shareformance flyers
  • Trouble shoot challenges as arise onsite at the venue
  • CPIP strives to maintain a high and unified standard of teaching. To that end, CPIP education staff may observe classes and may assemble Instructors to discuss class content and teaching methods. Instructors are expected to be reasonably available for such meetings
  • May be required to meet with CPIP staff to develop and discuss curriculum
  • Provide a safe learning environment by modeling positive behavior and supporting student accomplishments
  • Teaching Artists may be asked to co-teach with Acting and Education Interns during any class and provide feedback to the interns following class sessions
  • Other duties as assigned

Ideal Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Experience in teaching Drama based Classes, with specialties including acting, improvisation, writing, character creation, etc.
  • Experience teaching grade Pre-K to grade 12 students
  • Experience working with students in a public and private school settings, from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds preferred
  • Ability to travel to school sites throughout the tri-state area
  • Energetic, responsive, flexible, creative
  • Attentive to details, ability to work independently
  • College graduate, or relevant experience
  • Good communication skills
  • Organized and able to solve problems quickly and positively

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
  • This employee must have reliable means of transportation

DIRECTOR OF BANDS Sought by Northern Kentucky University

TENURE-TRACK DIRECTOR OF BANDS

POSITION:
Assistant Professor, Director of Bands, full-time, tenure-track, appointment to begin August 2023.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary responsibilities will be to provide leadership for the NKU band program, which includes conducting the Symphonic Winds and Concert Band, while recruiting and maintaining appropriate instrumentation for a balanced band program. Primary teaching duties will include instrumental conducting and other secondary teaching areas based on the candidate’s strengths that could include methods courses (brass, woodwinds, and/or marching band techniques), applied music, instrumentation and scoring, music theory, etc. Responsibilities also include the development of a scholarly/creative agenda in research, performance, and/or professional creative activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Doctoral degree in music required (Ph.D., DMA, etc.). ABD candidates will be considered, but the doctoral degree must be conferred by August 2023. Teaching experience at the college level is required. For additional preferred qualifications, please see the complete electronic posting.

RANK AND SALARY:
Assistant Professor (full-time, tenure-track); salary is competitive and commensurate with Assistant Professor.

The Drama Workshop is searching for two women and two men to fill roles in the upcoming production at the Drama Workshop:

SANDERS FAMILY CHRISTMAS

ROLES:

  • MERVIN OGLETHORPE – pastor of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Late 20’s to Late 30’s – non-singing
  • JUNE – sister, 20s – 30s – non-singing
  • DENNIS and DENISE – twins, 20s – 30s *
    *Harmonizing is required and soprano, alto, tenor, baritone, and bass voices will be needed. Roles will be assigned to fill vocal parts, but which character fills which vocal part is adjustable.

In this sequel to the ever-popular New York hit Smoke on the Mountain, the Sanders family returns to Mount Pleasant, NC, home of the Mount Pleasant Pickle Factory. It’s Christmas Eve, 1941, and America is going to war.

More than two dozen Christmas carols, many of them vintage hymns, and hilarious yuletide stories from the more-or-less devout Sanders family will keep the audience laughing, clapping and singing along to bluegrass Christmas favorites.

Call for Asian-American Pacific Islander Voiceover Actors for TCT’s DISNEY’S MOANA JR.

TCTC_new logoCincinnati – The nation’s oldest professional theatre for youth, The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati, is searching for American Samoa, Hawaiian, Filipino and other AAPI community members or talent to contribute their voices to DISNEY’S MOANA JR. running at the Taft Theatre April 15-24, 2023. This paid voiceover work will be low commitment and pre-recorded. Compensation will be a stipend. Older voices are encouraged to submit.

In TCT’s imaginative and puppet-centric version of DISNEY’S MOANA JR., some actors will be singing live on stage, and some will be operating puppets in blacklight. For the roles that will not be live on stage, voiceovers will be recorded.

Ideal and Minimum Qualifications:

  • Clear speaking voice
  • Ability to portray a character
  • Ideally come to TCT Red Bank to record lines and/or songs

Casting Call for Short Horror Film

MISC_Casting call2I am casting a short horror film for anyone interested. This is being made for the Fright Film Competition so no pay, but it is only a one day shoot (Saturday the 17th), and should be a fairly easy shoot.

All roles are race neutral.

  • Grandma – Think Betty White, takes some major abuse and has some explicit language
  • Anchor- M/F tv news anchor, this part can be done at your convenience any time before Sept 24.
  • News reporter- M/F can be done any time prior to Sept 17.
  • Rebecca- F early 20s
  • Sam- M early 20s
  • Jake- M early 20s
  • Kim- F mid to late teens

Note Grandma will be needed same day as news reporter, but that shouldn’t take more than an hour.

Sam and Kim may also be needed on Sunday the 18th if I can’t find a set that has all needed locations, but again that would only be for a couple of hours.
