Actors Sought for NKU Senior Thesis Project FIRST BLUE SKY

Logline: As a criminal shelters a distressed woman in a hotel, he finds himself confronted with a strange attraction to her and unable to outpace his misdeeds.

“First Blue Sky” is a short film being produced in the Greater Cincinnati Area, shooting throughout January and February of 2026. “First Blue Sky” is a neo-noir romance-mystery set in the near future. The film is gritty and surreal, with a narrative focus on relational dependency, projection, and manipulation.

We are looking to cast two paid, non-union leads:

  • JACK: The protagonist. A man in his mid to late 20s, working as a home security system salesman by day, but leading a more nefarious life by night. Jack represents a generation of young people in the workforce who have been pushed into a hyper-commercialized and alienating environment. Barely making ends meet, Jack has found himself wrapped up in a dangerous criminal environment. Jack desperately craves love and understanding, which results in a strange and fantastical relationship with Christy of his own design.
  • CHRISTY: The mysterious love interest, a woman in her mid to late 20s. Christy is representative of romantic and emotional phantasm, or the people we shape our partners and love interests to be in our minds. She is an escape for Jack, a muse, a project – whatever he wants her to be, she can become. Throughout the film, however, conflict arises as she begins to become aware of her inconsistent past and her distorted mind.

Additionally, we are looking for a few supporting, non-paid roles:

  • RUCKUS and ROWDY: The “henchman” type, large, intimidating men with some speaking parts (40s or 50s).
  • MR. HAYS: A crime boss – confident, intimidating, but calculated. Some speaking parts. A man in his 40s or 50s.
  • MATT: A stubborn suburban husband whom Jack tries to sell a home security system to. A man in his early to mid-30s. A few sentences of dialogue.
  • LORI: Matt’s wife, early to mid-30s. A few sentences of dialogue.

If you are interested or have questions, please contact us at firstblueskyfilm@gmail.com
