Auditions Announced for MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS at Beechmont Players

BPI_logoBeechmont Players and director Jim Waldfogle will be holding auditions for their 2023-2024 season opener, Agatha Christie’s MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS, adapted for the stage by Ken Ludwig.

Synopsis:
Just after midnight, a snowdrift stops the Orient Express in its tracks. The luxurious train is surprisingly full for the time of the year, but by the morning it is one passenger fewer. An American tycoon lies dead in his compartment, stabbed eight times, his door locked from the inside. Isolated and with a killer in their midst, the passengers rely on detective Hercule Poirot to identify the murderer – in case he or she decides to strike again.

Please bring a resume and conflicts from June 1 – August 5. Headshot is encouraged. Cold readings will be done from the script.

Rehearsals start in the beginning of June and will rehearse 3 days a week. Final schedule will be determined after the show is cast and conflicts have been provided.

  • Hercule Poirot – Belgian.  Middle-aged.  Brilliant, suspicious, somewhat vain.
  • Monsieur Bouc – Belgian, a young middle-aged man of good humor.
  • Mary Debenham – English beauty, late 20s+.  Anxious, with an air of sadness.
  • Hector MacQueen – Nervous young American, 30s.  Beleaguered.
  • Michel, the Conductor – Any age, doubles with Head Waiter.
  • Princess Dragomiroff – Russian, 70s.  Commanding, expensively dressed.
  • Greta Ohlsson –  Swedish, 30s+.  Frightened, sheepish, plainly dressed.
  • Countess Andrenyi – 20s+, brilliantly beautiful, extravagantly dressed.  “Out of a fairy tale.”
  • Helen Hubbard – Outspoken American, 50s.  Well dressed, with a touch of flamboyance.
  • Colonel Arbuthnot – Scotsman, mid-30s+.  Handsome, matter-of-fact.
  • Samuel Ratchett – Middle-aged American “businessman.”  Brusque, unforgiving, threatening.
  • Head Waiter – Any age, doubles with Michel.

NOTE: For the safety of our patrons, cast and crew, all participants in this show will be required to be vaccinated before the start of rehearsals.

Announces Video Submissions for
MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET

Kincaid Regional Theatre located in Falmouth Kentucky is now accepting video submissions for the roles of Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash and Sam Phillips in the smash hit musical Million Dollar Quartet.

Million Dollar Quartet will begin rehearsals in Falmouth, Kentucky on June 11, 2023 and will run for three weeks, opening July 14th and closing July 30th, 2023. Kincaid Regional Theatre is a nonequity theatre. Compensation, travel and housing are provided.

MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET is the smash-hit musical inspired by the famed recording session that brought together rock ‘n’ roll icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins for the first and only time.

On December 4, 1956, these four young musicians gathered at Sun Records in Memphis for what would be one of the greatest jam sessions ever. MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET brings that legendary night to life, featuring a score of rock hits including “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Fever,” “That’s All Right,” “Sixteen Tons,” “Great Balls of Fire,” “Walk the Line,” “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On,” “Who Do You Love?,” “Matchbox,” “Folsom Prison Blues,” “Hound Dog” and more.

This thrilling musical brings you inside the recording studio with four major talents who came together as a red-hot rock ‘n’ roll band for one unforgettable night. Don’t miss your chance to be a fly on the wall of fame… at MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET!

Character Breakdown

  • Carl Perkins, 24-35 — lead guitar player, the first poet of Rock ‘n’
    Roll.
  • Elvis Presley, 21-28 — guitar player, the first and still undisputed
    King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.
  • Johnny Cash, 24-35 — guitar player, a giant of American music
    at the dawn of his epic career.
  • Sam Phillips, 33-45 — the father of Rock ‘n’ Roll and founder of
    Sun Records; discovered Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley, Johnny
    Cash, Carl Perkins, and many other, including Roy Orbison and
    B.B. King. A towering and charismatic figure in American music.

Actor/musicians auditioning for the roles of Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, and Elvis Presley must be able to play guitar and sing.

Video submission requirements for these roles are as follows:

  • CARL PERKINS – “Blue Suede Shoes” (Key: A major) prepare 2 complete verses/choruses and a solo guitar chorus
  • JOHNNY CASH – “I Walk the Line” (Key: F major) prepare two complete verses (one must be sung in the lower octave)
  • ELVIS PRESLEY – “Long Tall Sally” (Key: C major) prepare two complete verses/choruses and a solo guitar chorus

If needed, sheet music for these audition excerpts is available from kincaidstage@gmail.com. PLEASE NOTE: Auditionees will be expected to provide their own instrument for rehearsals and performances.

Actors auditioning for the role of Sam Phillips are not required to sing.

  • SAM PHILLIPS – Actors submitting for the role of Sam Phillips should prepare two (2) short monologues from the play. If needed, monologues are available from kincaidstage@gmail.com.

Auditions Announced for ONCE UPON A MATTRESS at Encore Community Theatre

ENCORE_logoAuditions will take place at the Creative Center at the Palace (215 S 3rd St, Hamilton, OH 45011) on Thursday, May 4th at 6:30p and Saturday, May 6th at 12:00p.

Come with a musical theatre song in a similar style as the show. In groups, auditionees will sing, learn a dance, and perform the dance. There will be time to change in between if needed.

Those who are asked to callbacks will be given a packet with music and lines. Callbacks will start with singing and then group reads.

Please try to arrive at least 10 minutes before your time slot.

Auditions Announced for THE ADDAMS FAMILY Musical at Rivertown Players

Hamline Chapel United Methodist Church – High and Vine Streets – Lawrenceburg, IN

Rehearsals start May 22, please bring a list of conflicts to auditions but please note no conflicts will be allowed past July 4th, 2023.

Must be 16 at time of show, show dates are July 20-23, 2023.

  • Please prepare a musical theatre song, 16-32 bars, with sheet music.
  • Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes to dance in, short choreography routine will be taught.
  • Participants need reliable transportation and rehearsals will be closed to all non participating parties.
  • Subject to change at director’s discretion: Rehearsals will be Mon/Tues/Thurs 6:30-9:30 at Hamline Chapel with possible additional rehearsals closer to show time.

Cincinnati Opera Hosts Open Casting Call for Supernumerary Roles for 2023 Summer Festival

Cincinnati, Ohio—For anyone who’s dreamed of appearing on the Cincinnati Music Hall stage, Cincinnati Opera is ready to give you your moment in the spotlight. No singing or acting skills are required!

Cincinnati Opera will hold an open casting call for supernumerary roles for the company’s 2023 Summer Festival. An information and casting session is scheduled for Saturday, May 6, 2023, from 1–3 p.m. in the May Festival Rehearsal Room at Music Hall (1244 Central Parkway, Cincinnati, OH 45202). Participants should enter through the May Festival Rehearsal Room entrance at the corner of 14th Street and Central Parkway.

Supernumerary—or “super”—roles are non-singing, non-speaking roles, much like extras in film and television. Supers will share the stage with internationally renowned artists and work with celebrated directors and conductors. No experience is necessary and all super positions are filled on a voluntary basis. Individuals of all ages, races, ethnicities, genders, and abilities are welcome and encouraged to apply.

Lucia di Lammermoor
Commitment period: May 30–June 24, 2023
Performances: June 22 and 24, 2023
Supers needed: 6 male-presenting liveried servants

The Barber of Seville
Commitment period: June 14–July 8, 2023
Performances: July 6 and 8, 2023
Supers needed:

  • 1 older male-presenting servant
  • 1 male-presenting notary
  • 1 male-presenting young lover
  • 1 male-presenting nephew
  • 1 older female-presenting aunt
  • 1 female-presenting young lover

Madame Butterfly
Commitment period: June 28–July 29, 2023
Performances: July 22, 27, and 29, 2023

  • 2 male-presenting Asian servants
  • 2 male-presenting non-Asian sailors
  • 1 male-presenting Asian or Hapa child, age 5–8

Cincinnati Opera’s productions of Lucia di Lammermoor, The Barber of Seville, and Madame Butterfly will be presented in Springer Auditorium at Music Hall. Supers are required to attend approximately 10–15 rehearsals. Daytime rehearsals may be scheduled.
