NUNSENSE Character descriptions:

A feisty, overweight (optional) Sophie Tucker –type who can’t resist the spotlight. Strong comedienne. Vocal part: Mezzo/belter.
  • Sister Mary Hubert, Mistress of Novices
The second in command, she is always competing with the Mother Superior (with friendly rivalry). Vocal part: Mezzo/belter.
  • Sister Robert Anne
A streetwise character from a tough neighborhood. A constant source of (friendly) aggravation for the Mother Superior. Desperate for a starring role. Vocal part: Mezzo/belter.
  • Sister Mary Amnesia
This nun lost her memory after a crucifix fell on her head. She is very sweet and funny (and perhaps a sandwich short of a picnic!). Vocal part: Soprano AND belter.
  • Sister Mary Leo, The novice
She entered the convent with the firm desire to become the first nun ballerina. Must perform ballet either on pointe, or in slippers. Vocal part: Mezzo/belter.

Show synopsis:
The Order of the Little Sisters of Hoboken take over a high school
auditorium to hold a fundraising variety show to raise money to bury several
sisters (who were accidentally poisoned by their cook). They must inter the nuns
before the health inspector comes and finds the dead nuns in their
freezer! Fraught with hilarity, both Catholic and otherwise, we watch as 5 nuns
try to perform their planned performance amidst chaos and calamity.

SCCT Announces Auditions for SPAMALOT on May 13

SCCT_SpamalotSinclair Theatre will hold OPEN AUDITIONS for Monty Python’s SPAMALOT – a new musical lovingly ripped off from the motion picture Monty Python and The Holy Grail — Monday, May 13th beginning at 6 p.m. in 2L12 on Sinclair’s downtown Dayton campus.

With book and lyrics by Eric Idle and music by John Du Prez and Eric Idle, SPAMALOT is the story of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table as they embark on their quest for the Holy Grail. Flying cows, killer rabbits, the lady of the lake and show-stopping musical numbers are just part of this hilarious, yet highly irreverent parody.

OPEN AUDITIONS means that performers do not have to be theatre majors or Sinclair students. All actors prepared with the following requirements are welcome to audition: memorize a 1-minute comedic monologue and 32 bars of a comedic, musical theatre piece. An accompanist will be provided. You must bring sheet music; no a cappella or recorded music allowed.

Callbacks will be May 14th and will consist of cold readings, singing and a dance audition. Director is Gina Kleesattel. Music Direction is by Daniel Greene and choreography by Rodney Veal.

Production dates will be October 4-12. Online audition registrations at: www.sinclair.edu/theatreauditions. For more information: patti.celek@sinclair.edu.
