Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park to Audition Children June 24 & 25 for 2017 Production of A CHRISTMAS CAROL

PIP_logo(CINCINNATI) – The Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park will hold auditions on Saturday, June 24, with callbacks on Sunday, June 25, for children interested in performing in the theatre’s 2017 production of the annual holiday favorite A CHRISTMAS CAROL.

Nine area children will be cast to fill speaking and non-speaking parts in the show. Roles are available for boys and girls 8 to 13 years old. Additionally, the part of Tiny Tim requires a boy 6 to 8 years of age. To be eligible, children must not turn 14 before Dec. 30, 2017.Children of all races and ethnicities are encouraged to apply.

Children should provide a resume of any experience to the Playhouse, along with a photograph (a good quality school or family photo is acceptable). The resume and photo must be submitted again even if they have been sent in the past. The resume must include exact birth date and height, as well as an email address and telephone number. At the audition, children will be asked to share a one-minute monologue, story or poem and to demonstrate a British accent.

Interested children must be available for all rehearsals of the production, most of which are scheduled around school hours. Children must also be available for all performances, which are scheduled Tuesdays through Sundays and include some weekday student and public matinees. Performance dates are available on the Playhouse website at www.cincyplay.com.

Adapted by Howard Dallin, A CHRISTMAS CAROL is a faithful retelling of Charles Dickens’ beloved tale of a miserly humbug’s redemption that is enjoyed each season by multiple generations of Cincinnatians. The heartwarming message and spectacular effects of A CHRISTMAS CAROL make the show one of the Playhouse’s most popular productions each season. A CHRISTMAS CAROL will be performed from Nov. 22 through Dec. 30, 2017, in the Playhouse’s Robert S. Marx Theatre.

Auditions Announced for CRAZY FOR YOU at Inspiring Arts Productions

CRAZY FOR YOU!

A zany rich-boy-meets-hometown-girl romantic comedy, CRAZY FOR YOU® tells the story of young New York banker Bobby Child, who is sent to Deadrock, Nevada, to foreclose on a rundown theatre. In Deadrock, Bobby falls for spunky Polly Baker, the theater owner’s daughter. But Polly takes an instant dislike to the city slicker, so Bobby vows – through cunning, razzmatazz, and a hilarious case of mistaken identity – to win Polly’s heart and save the theatre. Memorable Gershwin tunes from the score include “I Got Rhythm,” “They Can’t Take That Away from Me,” “Embraceable You,” “But Not for Me,” “Nice Work if You Can Get It,” and “Someone to Watch Over Me.”

All auditions and rehearsals will be held at Grace Chapel in Mason (406 4th Ave., Mason, OH 45040). Those auditioning must sign up for a time slot (link below). Auditions are open to anyone entering high school or college. Please arrive 15 minutes early to ensure your paperwork is complete. Please visit the website to print the audition form—bring the form filled out and signed by you and a parent.

You will need to come with a list of ALL known conflicts during rehearsal and performance times. THESE ARE REQUIRED ON EVERYONE’S FORM. These listed conflicts will be the only excused absences.

What to expect:

  • Vocal audition: If auditioning for a lead, we prefer that you prepare a song from the show for that particular part. Learn the entire solo if possible. If auditioning for ensemble only, any show song that displays your voice well is fine. Be prepared to sing a cappella or with an accompaniment track (no voices.)
  • Cold read from the script if you are auditioning for a speaking part.
  • Dance audition for everyone. Please bring appropriate shoes/clothes. Bring tap shoes if you have them, otherwise hard-soled shoes.

Callbacks:

List will be posted on Thursday, May 18th on www.inspiringartsproductions.com by 10am.

  • Thursday, May 18: 3:30pm-9pm
  • Friday May 19 afternoon (if needed)
  • Saturday, May 20 morning (if needed)

Final cast list will be posted Monday, May 22 by noon at www.inspiringartsproductions.com.

Rehearsals will begin in late May/Early June.

Principles will be called 2-3 times per week. Ensemble will be called 1-2 times per week or more. During the two weeks before the show, anticipate rehearsal 3-4 times per week and Saturday. Specific days and times will be determined by cast availability.

Cast Requirements:

  • $70 participation fee
  • 5 volunteer hours for each member of the cast (may be completed by family member)
  • Each family volunteers in one pre-production committee and one production week committee.
  • Each cast member is required to sell 12 tickets.
  • 2 unexcused absences will result in dismissal from the show with no refund.
  • Behavior requiring continual reprimands may also result in dismissal with no refund.

Auditions Announced for GODSPELL at Lebanon Theatre Company

LTC_logoAuditions for GODSPELL will be held on Friday May 12, at 7pm and Sat. May 13 at 2pm, at our Mechanic St. Theater.

Roles

  • We will be casting 10 roles, women and men, ages 16 and older.

What to Bring to Auditions

  • Auditioners should prepare a 16 measure vocal excerpt to show their range.
  • Please bring sheet music to the audition.
  • You should also be acquainted with the uptempo section of “All for the Best.”
  • Lastly, be sure to bring a list of all conflicts you have from May 30 through July 30.

About the Show

The production team includes Director Karen Oehler, Musical Director Jay Mills, and Producers Paula Whitaker and Kate Edington.

GODSPELL was the first major musical theatre offering from three-time Grammy and Academy Award winner, Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin, Children of Eden), and it took the world by storm. Led by the international hit, “Day by Day,” GODSPELL features a parade of beloved songs, including “Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord,” “Learn Your Lessons Well,” “All for the Best,” “All Good Gifts,” “Turn Back, O Man” and “By My Side.”

A small group of people help Jesus Christ tell different parables by using a wide variety of games, storytelling techniques and hefty doses of comic timing. An eclectic blend of songs, ranging in style from pop to vaudeville, is employed as the story of Jesus’ life dances across the stage. Dissolving hauntingly into the Last Supper and the Crucifixion, Jesus’ messages of kindness, tolerance and love come vibrantly to life.​

Auditions Announced for PETER PAN JR. and CINDERELLA at The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati

This season, The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati will hold auditions in May for the first two MainStage productions of the 17-18 season, followed by auditions in August for the last two productions.

All roles are paid positions.

Upon audition registration, you may indicate which shows you would like to be considered for this season.

Auditions are by appointment only. You only need ONE audition appointment even if you are interested in both productions.

Children ages 9-17 and adults 18+ may make an audition appointment. Appointments can be made for:

  • Monday, May 15, 2017 between 5:30 PM and 8:30 PM (CHILDREN ONLY Age 9-17)
  • Tuesday, May 16, 2017 between 5:30 PM and 8:30 PM (CHILDREN ONLY Age 9-17)
  • Wednesday, May 17, 2017 between 5:30 PM and 8:30 PM (ADULTS ONLY 18+)
  • Thursday, May 18, 2017 between 5:30 PM and 8:30 PM (ADULTS ONLY 18+)

You MAY be asked to return and attend a “movement callback” on the day of your audition, which will take place from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM.

PETER PAN JR. callbacks will take place on Saturday, May 20, 3 PM to 7 PM
CINDERELLA callbacks will take place on Sunday May 21, 6 PM to 10 PM.

Auditions and Callbacks are held at our offices located at: 4015 Red Bank Road, Cincinnati OH 45227.

Please bring a memorized song that best shows your vocal range. (1 minute max). Remember your PIANO SHEET MUSIC for your song as we will NOT be auditioning your a cappella skills. An accompanist will be provided. Your sheet music MUST have the piano part, not just the vocal line, and music should be in a 3-ring binder with the cut CLEARLY marked for the accompanist.

You do NOT need to prepare a monologue.

You may be asked to show your dance ability, please bring appropriate movement clothes and shoes.

Please bring a RECENT 8×10 headshot and UPDATED performance resume.

Please plan to arrive at least 10-15 minutes ahead of your appointment to check/correct previously submitted paperwork.

If we are ahead of schedule, we will audition you early.

Due to concentrated rehearsal periods, we ask that you do not have conflicts during rehearsals. In an effort to best facilitate all rehearsal times, all those auditioning will be asked to list all conflicts at the time of the audition. This season, all conflicts will result in a stipend adjustment. Please take note of when rehearsals begin, the day and evening tech and performance schedule, and bring your calendar with you to the audition.

[WENDY] Female, the eldest of the Darling children with a certain maternal quality. She is very bright, ever practical and ready for an adventure. Strong actor/singer, sings up to D-flat. Must be comfortable with heights & flights.

[JOHN] Male, the middle Darling child, he is amicable and more proper than his younger brother Strong singer/actor/mover sings up to D-flat. Must be comfortable with heights & flights.

[MICHAEL] Male, the youngest Darling boy with unlimited energy who is also a bit stubborn. Strong singer/actor/mover sings up to Dflat. Must be comfortable with heights & flights.

[CINDERELLA] Female, a young house maid who is treated poorly by her Stepmother and Stepsisters, but with spunk and a little magic is transformed into a beautiful princess who’s dreams come true. Strong actor/dancer/singer with powerful pop vocals.

[STEPMOTHER] Female, Cinderella’s wicked matriarch who is obsessed with power and status and determined to marry off one of her daughters to the prince. Strong actor/singer with powerful pop vocals.

Auditions Announced for THE ADDAMS FAMILY at Wilmington College-Community Summer Theatre

WC_logoThe Wilmington College-Community Summer Theatre announces auditions for this year’s production of the new musical THE ADDAMS FAMILY by Andrew Lippa.

Auditions will be held on May 21, 22, & 23 at 7:15 pm on the stage of the Hugh G. Heiland Theatre on the campus of Wilmington College.

Director Cherie Cooper-Darragh, choreographer Cole Haugh, and music director Matt Spradlin will be will be auditioning actor/singer/dancers for the 20 member cast.

Persons auditioning should be 16 years of age or older.

Each audition session will consist of cold readings, singing, and dancing. Those auditioning are asked to prepare 32 bars of any contemporary musical. Bring sheet music—an accompanist will be provided. Dress comfortably to accommodate the dance portion of the audition.

You may attend as many of the audition sessions as you wish.
Rehearsals for THE ADDAMS FAMILY will begin the first week in June, with performances scheduled for July 13, 14, 15 and 16.
