Synopsis
Six years in the lives of two intensely creative people—Prof. Ruth Steiner and Ruth’s most devoted disciple, Lisa Morrison—are chronicled in this award-winning play. Hoping to become a writer herself, Lisa latches on to Ruth for consul, advice, and moral support. The trouble begins when Lisa gets into print and her reputation begins to surpass that of her mentor.

Synopsis
Hamlet’s a challenge for any actor, but when Jessica is cast as the titular character in a New York production, it sends her into an existential tailspin. It doesn’t help that her acting coach is borderline abusive, or that every Starbucks barista with an MFA tells her she’s too young for the role. Or that she’s somehow managed to make Sir Patrick Stewart her nemesis. Not to mention the fact that she’s a woman. How can Jessica figure out “to be or not to be,” when she can’t even figure out herself?

Auditions Announced for BECKY’S NEW CAR at Mariemont Players

Synopsis
This laugh-out-loud amusement park ride will take you on a comedic cruise through the perils of middle-aged longing. Fasten your seat belt and enjoy the deadpan humor and U-turn plot twists as Becky leads you down the road less traveled.

Characters (4 men, 3 women):

  • Becky Foster (45-55+): The center of the story. Charming, funny, engaging, honest, charismatic. Becky is a wife and mother.  She is loyal, hardworking, and missing something. What? She’s not sure. Becky is required to interact with the audience during the production.
  • Joe Foster (45-55): Becky’s husband. He is strong, pragmatic, honest, sharper than he looks and a loyal family man with a big heart.
  • Chris Foster (23-28): Becky and Joe’s son. He lives in the basement. He is a graduate student studying psychology. He is smart, funny, easy-going, yet passionate – a good kid.
  • Walter Flood (50-65): A very wealthy businessman recently widowed. He is charming, friendly, gentle, and a bit out of touch, especially when it comes to members of the opposite sex.
  • Kensington (Kenni) Flood (23-28): Walter’s daughter. She is pretty, cynical, smart, a bit spoiled – yet grounded.
  • Steve (40-55): A recently widowed car salesman who works with Becky. He is neurotic, emotional, whiny, manic, clueless. He’s a bit of a nebbish, but not a bad guy underneath it all.
  • Ginger (45-55): Walter’s single neighbor who has recently lost all of her money and the things that go along with it. She is jaded, funny, honest, and lonely.  She’s on the prowl.

Auditions will consist of cold readings of the script. Resumes and head shots are appreciated and encouraged.

Auditions Announced for A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE at Falcon Theatre

Roles:

Looking to cast actors from all backgrounds and demographics

  • Blanche Dubois (35-45): Born into wealth and privilege, a charming woman who has kept a few secrets to keep afloat in a changing world. Has a sense of mores and norms that often clash with Stanley’s behaviors and worldview.
  • Stanley Kowalski (25-35): A man in the peak of his physical prime who sees the world in black and white. He is protective of what he sees as his. He does not take kindly to being looked down upon. There is very little that stops Stanley from getting what he wants.
  • Stella Kowalski (23-30): Blanche’s younger sister and Stanley’s wife. Is able to easily switch between Stanley and Blanche’s worlds. Her passionate desire for Stanley and her devotion to Blanche generate the conflict at the center of the play.
  • Harold “Mitch” Mitchell (25-35): Stanley’s coworker, friend, and former brother in arms.  Large and imposing, in the range of 6′ and 200 lbs, his size betrays a gentle soul who wants do right by his mother at all costs. Not as outspoken as his poker buddies, but can hold his own if he has to.
  • Eunice Hubbell (Late 20s to 40s): Neighbor to the Kowalskis and owner of the building in which the play takes place.
  • Steve Hubbell (30s to 40s): Husband to Eunice, one of Stanley’s poker buddies. Crude with his friends and abusive towards his wife
  • Pablo Gonzales (20s to 30s): One of Stanley’s poker buddies
  • Woman ***Technically Negro Woman but lets leave the dated term at the door*** (30s to 40s): Neighbor to the Hubbells and Kowalskis
  • Flower Peddler ***Technically Mexican Woman but see above*** (20s to 50s): A woman selling flowers for the dead near the end of Blanche’s time at Elysian Fields
  • A Young Collector (15-19): A teenage boy collecting for the paper from Blanche but gets more than he bargained for
  • Doctor (30s to 50s): A doctor charged with bringing Blanche into a more comfortable home
  • Nurse (20s to 50s): A nurse aiding the Doctor. Has a physically imposing quality
