Spotlight Shines on Local Theatremakers at Know Theatre’s SERIALS!

Newly-Helmed by A to Z Productions, Season 16’s Five Episodes Highlight the Work of Nine Local Playwrights

Cincinnati, OH – Know Theatre of Cincinnati is excited to present the sixteenth season of Serials! Presented over the course of five Monday nights, each night Serials presents five new 15-minute episodes of never-before-seen plays by local playwrights performed live on the Know Theatre Underground Cabaret stage. Due to an unprecedented amount of applications this year, the projects have been whittled down to nine new plays to be presented: six “regularly scheduled programs,” whose narrative arcs transpire over multiple “episodes,” and three “guest stars” with one-night only episodes.

Critical to developing the work of new playwrights in Cincinnati, Serials is an incredible opportunity for local playwrights – and audiences – to see  brand new plays made real, onstage in a supportive, growth-oriented environment.  At the end of the five episodes, the audience will vote for the show that they wish to see performed in its entirety during a weekend run on the Know Theatre Cabaret Stage. Helmed by local theatre makers, Alexx Rouse and Zach Robinson of A to Z Productions, the members of this theatre-making team have been personally involved as writers and producers of Serials! for multiple seasons, and serve as artist support and hosts of each fast-paced and funny Monday Night Episode. Serials Season 16 is made possible by the generous support of the Morse and Betty Johnson Foundation & Jackson Short, as well as the generosity of tens of thousands of contributors to the annual ArtsWave Campaign, the region’s primary source for arts funding, now celebrating its 99th year!

Cincinnati, OH- The Walnut Hills High School Theatre Department is thrilled to welcome you to their Senior High Winter Play, Paula Vogel’s INDECENT.  The show runs February 12-14th 7 pm; with one matinee on February 14th at 2 pm. All performances take place in Walnut Hills High School’s Westheimer Auditorium.

Powerful and haunting, Indecent by Paula Vogel tells the true story behind the controversial 1923 Broadway production of Sholem Asch’s God of Vengeance. Exploring themes of love, censorship, and the resilience of art in the face of oppression, this play weaves music, dance, and storytelling into a moving tapestry. Indecent is a celebration of the enduring power of theatre and a must-see for audiences who crave thought-provoking drama.

“Indecent is an incredibly moving play that tells the story of Jewish tragedy and perseverance, both in America, and Europe,” says director Mike Sherman. “It is also a story about the power of theatre to inspire hope and societal change across generations.”

“Indecent forces us to ask questions about artistic freedom and the responsibility of actors to their communities.” states actress Adelaide Linser, “It is a vital reminder of the arts’ ability to open minds, challenge boundaries, and give life back to stories that have been erased.”
