1776 Runs March 26-April 5

Wright State University
March 26-April 5
Creative Arts Center Festival Playhouse [Dayton]

Directed and choreographed by Greg Hellems
Music directed by Wade Russo

This production reflects and reimagines politics in a way not to be missed. The seminal event in American history blazes to vivid life in this most unconventional of Broadway hits. 1776 puts a human face on the pages of history as we see the Americans behind the national icons: proud, frightened, uncertain, irritable, charming, often petty and ultimately noble figures, determined to do the right thing for a fledgling nation.

Auditions Announced for THE WEDDING SINGER at La Comedia Dinner Theatre

La Comedia Dinner Theatre in Springboro, Ohio, is holding an open call audition for its upcoming production of THE WEDDING SINGER on Saturday, March 7th, at 9:00am at 765 W. Central Ave. Springboro, Ohio.

SEEKING (all ethnicities are encouraged to audition)

ROBBIE HART: The lead singer of a band. Handsome and charismatic. A truly ‘nice’ guy that has the classic lead singer aura and personality. Also a bit of a dreamer. In love with love until Linda leaves him at the altar and breaks his heart. Gender: male Age: 25 to 35 Vocal range top: C6 Vocal range bottom: B3

SAMMY: The bass player in the wedding band and one of Robbie’s best friends. A total guy’s guy, but beneath his pretending to love being a bachelor he is actually in love with Holly. Gender: male Age: 25 to 35 Vocal range top: A5 Vocal range bottom: C4

GEORGE: The wedding band’s keyboardist and one of Robbie’s best friends. He is sensitive and somewhat flamboyant. The foil to Sammy’s super guy attitude. Gender: male Age: 25 to 35 Vocal range top: A5 Vocal range bottom: C4

JULIA SULLIVAN: Waitress. The pretty “girl next door” in looks and personality. Engaged to Glen but falls in love with Robbie and is conflicted as to who to choose. Empathetic, caring, and brave. Gender: female Age: 25 to 35 Vocal range top: F5 Vocal range bottom: G3

HOLLY: Julia’s cousin. Promiscuous and always up for a good time, but wants to be loved and is looking for romantic fulfillment in all the wrong places. She is in love with Sammy. Gender: female Age: 25 to 35 Vocal range top: E5 Vocal range bottom: A3

GLEN GUGLIA: Julia’s fiancé. A Wall Street broker. He is rich, shallow, and materialistic. Constantly tries to buy Julia’s love with money. He is a bit of a womanizer. Gender: male Age: 30 to 45 Vocal range top: B5 Vocal range bottom: D4

ROSIE: Robbie’s grandmother who raised him. Motherly but adventurous and always trying to remain “hip” despite her age. Gender: female Age: 60 to 80 Vocal range top: C5 Vocal range bottom: C4

LINDA: Robbie’s fiancé who leaves him at the altar. Keeps Robbie around as a back-up plan. Is more in love with the idea of Robbie being a rock star than she actually is with Robbie. Gender: female Age: 20 to 30 Vocal range top: D5 Vocal range bottom: A3

ENSEMBLE: Male and female, play multiple ensemble roles and understudy principle roles. Must be 18 years of age to audition.

Prepare 16 bars of music in the 80’s pop style of the show or a number from The Wedding Singer score. Be prepared for a dance call.

Rehearsals: April 27th-May 9th, 2026 (Mon-Sat 9am-6pm.)
Tech: May 11th-May 13th, 2026.

ETC Presents Regional Premiere Comedy FOURTEEN FUNERALS, March 21-April 12

(Cincinnati, OH) Family. You can’t pick ‘em—even when they’re dead. Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati (ETC) presents the regional premiere comedy FOURTEEN FUNERALS by Eric Pfeffinger. With sharp dialogue and poignant moments, this production offers a comedic yet touching look at the ties that bind us—sometimes even after death. Directed by Torie Wiggins, FOURTEEN FUNERALS takes the stage March 21–April 12, 2026. Premiere Sponsor is John Goering. Design Sponsor is Linda R. Holthaus.

When Sienna receives a cryptic call about the untimely deaths of distant relatives in Blissfield, Indiana, she finds herself unexpectedly tasked with delivering eulogies for family members she’s never met. What begins as a peculiar obligation soon transforms into a journey of self-discovery and unexpected friendship with Millie, the quirky funeral home receptionist. This witty and heartfelt new play explores themes of identity, connection, and the stories we inherit.

“When I first heard the title of FOURTEEN FUNERALS, I didn’t think I was interested. After I read it, I realized it’s not a story about death . . . it’s a story about life,” says ETC’s Producing Artistic Director D. Lynn Meyers. “It shares this concept that your past brings you fully and presently into your future—how your past is something that informs who you are and gives you the information you need to know where to go. FOURTEEN FUNERALS is a story about the family you come from, the family you choose, and how you can celebrate both.”

THE WILD WOMEN OF WINDALE Opens at Sunset Players

THE WILD WOMEN OF WINDALE Opens Friday, February 27

The Sunset Players announce the opening of the Jones, Hope, and Wooten play THE WILD WOMEN OF WINDALE on February 27 at 7:30 p.m. Further performances will be at 7:30 p.m. on February 18, March 5, 6, and 7, with a Sunday matinee at 2:00 p.m. on March 1. All performances will be in the historic Samuel Hanniford and Sons art deco building, The Arts Center At Dunham, 1945 Dunham Way, 45238.

This joyful and exuberant, yet ultimately touching, comedy focuses on three women at crossroads in their lives – the Wild sisters of Winedale, VA – Fanny and Willa and their frustratingly quirky sister-in-law, Johnnie Faye. This feisty and fun-loving trio has supported and cheered one another through life’s highs and lows through the years, including the early demise of two of their husbands. And they really need each other now, as Fanny experiences a hilariously inappropriate reaction to her 60th birthday, while Willa is so stressed out from her nursing job she resorts to vodka and speed-knitting to cope, and Johnnie Faye, determined to put her year of fraught widowhood behind her, desperately tries to find a man – preferably a man with a house, since hers is somewhere at the bottom of a Florida sinkhole.

The lives of these women are further upended by the responsibility of caring for their free-spirited, ailing aunt and the realization that they are drowning under loads of family keepsakes and possessions nobody wants – and they’re at the top of that list! With equal doses of hilarity and heart, these extraordinary women come up with delightful and surprisingly unorthodox ways to clear the clutter from their lives, their homes, and their relationships so they can move their lives forward. Together, they prove it’s never too late to take another one of life’s paths for a grand new adventure. This Jones Hope Wooten comedy is guaranteed to drive you wild with laughter – and motivate you to keep hounding the kids to please take that stack of quilts and Granny’s Christmas china!

Interspersed between the Wild’s scenes, six women examine the “profound events that have shaped their lives.”
