Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python, and you have THE 39 STEPS, a fast-paced whodunit for anyone who Loves the magic of theatre! In The 39 Steps, a man with a boring life meets a woman with a thick accent who says she’s a spy. Soon, a mysterious organization called “The 39 Steps” is hot on the man’s trail in a nationwide manhunt that climaxes in a death-defying finale! A riotous blend of virtuoso performances and wildly inventive stagecraft, THE 39 STEPS amounts to an unforgettable evening of pure pleasure.

We’re looking to cast the roles of:

  • RICHARD HANNAY (30s-40s, Male-presenting) – A dapper English gentleman who gets accidentally sucked into mysterious world of spies, secret missions, and murder.

  • CLOWNS (20s-40s Any Gender) – These actors (2-4 of them) will portray a big variety of characters of different genders, ages, and nationalities.

This show is a fast paced comedy with a lot of physical, visual, and auditory humor. All actors and actresses will need to demonstrate strong character acting, high energy, strong stamina, various accents/voices, and great comedic timing. To quote the author of the play himself “Quite a lot of this show depends on your actor’s level of Olympian fitness. It has proven an invaluable aid to weight loss.”

The audition will consist of cold readings from the script. A resume and a headshot are welcomed but not required. Just bring your energy, open mind, and a willingness to be silly and have fun on stage.
