Auditions Announced for THE ONE ACT PLAY THAT GOES WRONG at Dayton Playhouse

An amateur drama society is putting on the classic whodunit, The Murder at Haversham Manor. There has been an untimely death, everyone is a suspect, and an inspector is set on the case to find who the culprit is. However, when this play is performed by the accident-prone thespians of The Cornley Drama Society, everything that can go wrong…does! The actors and crew battle against all odds to make it through to their final curtain call.

AUDITION INFORMATION
The director is seeking an ensemble cast, 20s to 40s, who are physically adept performers for this comedy farce.

All actors, except for Annie and Trevor, speak with an RP (British) dialect.

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.

Auditions will be: Monday, September 25 and Tuesday, September 26 from 7-9:30pm with the possibility of callbacks on Wednesday, September 27.

Please come prepared to provide conflict dates between September 28 and November 19, 2023 on your audition form.

It’s 1985, and rockstar wannabe Robbie Hart is New Jersey’s favorite wedding singer. He’s the life of the party until his own fiancée leaves him at the altar. Shot through the heart, Robbie makes every wedding as disastrous as his own. Enter Julia, a winsome waitress who wins his affection. As luck would have it, Julia is about to be married to a Wall Street shark and, unless Robbie can pull off the performance of a decade, the girl of his dreams will be gone forever. Contains mature language and themes.

9/24 – Northern Kentucky University’s School of the Arts (NKU SOTA) regrets to announce the rescheduling of the opening performance of “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.” Originally scheduled for September 28, 2023, at the NKU Griffin Hall Digitorium, the new opening night will now be on September 29, 2023. This decision was made due to unexpected illness among the cast and crew.

The health and well-being of guests, performers and production team is a top priority. However, in response to this change, an additional performance will be added on Saturday, Oct. 7 at 2 p.m.

Ticket holders for the premier date of September 28 will be contacted directly by the box office team to facilitate exchanging your tickets to a new date. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the SOTA box office at 859-572-5464 or via email at boxoffice@nku.edu. Tony Award-winning play, adapted by Simon Stephens from the highly regarded novel by Mark Haddon. The story follows 15-year-old Christopher, a boy with an extraordinary brain that is exceptional at mathematics but ill-equipped to interpret everyday life. When he discovers his neighbor’s dead dog, Wellington, he finds himself under suspicion and sets out to solve the mystery, leading him on a thrilling journey that upturns his world.

In this exuberant, groovy, hilarious musical comedy, Charity tries again and again to find her dream and make something of herself. Sweet Charity captures all the energy, humor, and heartbreak of Life in the Big City for an unfortunate but irrepressible optimist. The musical features popular hits like “Big Spender,” “If My Friends Could See Me Now,” “I’m a Brass Band” and “Baby, Dream Your Dream.”

Joey Votto Makes a Splash!

Cincinnati Reds First Baseman provides narration in The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati’s production of The SpongeBob Musical: Youth Edition this October

Cincinnati – The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati is thrilled to announce that Cincinnati Reds First Baseman Joey Votto will lend his voice to their upcoming production of THE SPONGEBOB MUSICAL: YOUTH EDITION.

Votto will be heard as the “French Narrator” in the show, introducing the audience to the world of Bikini Bottom. This marks the first time a Cincinnati Reds player has been featured in a The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati production.

Votto is the National League’s 2010 Most Valuable Player and Hank Aaron Award winner, a 6-time NL All-Star, and a Sporting News NL All-Star. He is the only Reds first baseman ever to win a Rawlings Gold Glove Award (2011) and Major League Baseball’s 2017 Lou Gehrig Memorial Award winner for exemplary contributions to his community. Votto received Most Valuable Player Award votes 8 times in the last 13 seasons and was voted 6 times by the Cincinnati chapter of the BBWAA the Ernie Lombardi Award as the Reds’ MVP. Joey Votto was born in Toronto, Ontario, and grew up in the city of Etobicoke. He is fluent in French.

“We are so thankful to Joey Votto and his team for being a part of the 23-24 TCT Season,” says TCT Managing Director and CEO Kim Kern. “Our audiences will enjoy hearing a Cincinnati icon bring this character to life.”
