UC College-Conservatory of Music Opera
March 30-April 1
[University Heights]

William R. Langley, conductor
Daria Zholnerova, co-director
Greg Eldridge, co-director

Fellow Travelers takes place in 1950s Washington, D.C. Timothy Laughlin is a recent Fordham graduate and devout Catholic who is eager to join the crusade against Communism. A chance encounter with a handsome, profligate State Department official, Hawkins Fuller, leads to Tim’s first job in D.C. and — after Fuller’s advances — his first love affair. As McCarthy mounts his desperate bid for power and internal investigations focus on “sexual subversives” during the “Lavender Scare,” Tim and Hawk find it dangerous to navigate their double lives. Drawn into a maelstrom of deceit and intrigue, Tim struggles to reconcile his political convictions, his love for God and his love for Fuller — an entanglement that will end in a stunning act of betrayal.

CSO PROOF: SURREALIST EL TROPICAL On March 29-30

March 29-30
Music Hall [Over-the-Rhine]

Rosie Herrera Dance Theatre
Rosie Herrera, choreographer
Clyde Scott, video and production designer
Luke Kritzeck, lighting and production designer

Choreographer Rosie Herrera wants you to imagine that, after a night of gleefully overindulging in absinthe cocktails, filmmaker Federico Fellini stumbles down an alley in old Havana. A door cracks open and music washes over him like a sticky sunrise in September. He steps inside into a primordial soup of neon and sound and tropical heat. A wild undercurrent pulses through the room, whispering that anything (and everything) might happen.
