Auditions Announced for A NEW BRAIN at Dare to Defy Productions

D2D_logoDare 2 Defy Productions is thrilled to announce auditions for our upcoming production of the musical A NEW BRAIN, directed by Philip Drennen.

The show will run October 17-19, 2019 at the new PNC Arts Annex with a tentative first rehearsal of September 2, 2019.

Auditions/callbacks will be held on August 11, 2019 starting at 6:00 pm. You will not need to prepare your own songs, we will only be working material from the show.

All roles are available. All Ethnicities and ages 18+ are encouraged to audition. These are paid non-union contract positions.

  • Gordon Schwinn: A lovable but sarcastic composer, working on music for Mr. Bungee’s TV show Male Tenor (G2-G4)
  • Mr. Bungee: The slightly tyrannical director/producer/star of his own children’s TV show; a frog Male Baritone (B2-G4)
  • Mimi Schwinn: Gordon’s loving yet slightly unstable mother Female Mezzo/Alto (F#3 – C#5)
  • Rhoda: Gordon’s agent and best friend Female Mezzo/Soprano (A3 to E5)
  • Roger Delli-Bovi: Gordon’s charming and affectionate boyfriend Male Baritone (A2 to G4)
  • Richard: A kind and compassionate nurse Male Baritone (G2 to G4)
  • Homeless Lady: Intelligent, caring, yet rough around the edges Female Mezzo Belt (F3 to Eb5)
  • Dr. Berensteiner: An unsympathetic doctor Male Baritone (G2 to E4)
  • Priest: A somewhat clueless man of the cloth at the hospital Male Tenor (C3 to A4)
  • Waitress/Nancy D: The waitress is overbearing; Nancy is a mean nurse Female Soprano (A3 to G5)

Cast Announced for BROADWAY BOUND at Mariemont Players

Part three of Neil Simon’s acclaimed semi-autobiographical trilogy finds Eugene Jerome and his older brother Stanley trying to break into the world of show business as professional comedy writers while coping with family tensions, parental pressures, and maybe even…love? When their material is broadcast on the radio for the first time, some things about the family portrayed in the sketch seem very familiar…

Auditions Announced for GENDER BENDER REVUE at Mason Community Players

MCP_sm logoAfter back-to-back sold out years, the GENDER BENDER REVUE returns to the Mason Community Players!

We are looking for a diverse group of performers from all over the Greater Cincinnati area. Join us for a rare opportunity to perform pieces like they’ve never been done before – this is your chance to perform a song, dance, or spoken word traditionally performed by another gender.

What to prepare:

  • Singers: Bring 32 bars of a Broadway-style song that best shows your abilities. Accompaniment will be available – pre-recorded tracks and acapella auditions are also accepted.
  • Actors: Bring a prepared 1-minute monologue.

You are encouraged to bring a piece that you would like to perform in the actual show. If you are unsure what you’d like to perform, bring whatever song / monologue best shows your abilities. If you only want to be considered for musical numbers, you do not need to prepare a monologue.

Rehearsals:
Performers should expect 2-3 rehearsals per week (except tech week) and the rehearsal schedule will be built as much as possible around each performer’s conflicts.
