(Cincinnati, OH — April 23, 2019) –– Featured as part of the Primary Lineup in this year’s Cincinnati Fringe Festival, DESCENT: A Murder Ballad, with a book and music by Hannah Gregory and directed by Caitlin McWethy, will premiere on Sunday, June 2 at 8:30pm at Know Theatre.

The folk musical about marriage, miscarriage, and murder began development in 2015 as a concept album featuring three songs before it morphed into a musical featuring a nonlinear plotline and dialogue. Development escalated in 2018 when Gregory received an Artist Enrichment grant from the Kentucky Foundation for Women to finish and produce the show. DESCENT: A Murder Ballad’s involvement in Cincinnati Fringe Festival marks its official premiere to the public.

While audiences can expect beautiful language, original music, and timeless themes like self-discovery and good versus evil, they can also prepare to explore darker themes like the effects of miscarriage, relationship deterioration, and the female vigilante. Additionally, DESCENT: A Murder Ballad seeks to move women’s experiences to the forefront of theatrical storytelling both through the script and through the artistic leadership of the show itself.

The cast features Tess Talbot in the lead role Annie with a supporting cast of Wes Carman as Paul, AJ Baldwin as Ruby, Ellyn Broderick as Mabel, Hannah Jones-Diaz as Vada, Dylan Shelton as The Butcher, Charlie Roetting as Abraham, Hannah Gregory as The Angel, and Maliyah Gramata-Jones as Swing

Fringe-goers can catch DESCENT: A Murder Ballad at Know Theatre on the following dates and times:

  • Sunday, June 2 at 8:30pm
  • Thursday, June 6 at 6:30pm
  • Saturday, June 8 at 7:00pm
  • Tuesday, June 11 at 6:30pm
  • Thursday, June 13 at 6:30pm

RATED PG-13. Trigger warning: miscarriage and violence

It features all the excitement and interactive elements that Wild Kratts fans love, plus awesome new Kratt Brothers twists and turns to keep them on the edge of their seats.”

In Wild Kratts LIVE 2.0, Chris and Martin take to the stage to activate new Creature Powers and go “off to the creature rescue!” With some help from Aviva and the rest of the Wild Kratts team, who will be animated and on screen at the Tortuga HQ, the brothers confront a comic villain and once again save the day, sharing fascinating tidbits about some of the world’s most amazing creatures along the way.

Audience members are encouraged to bring along their animal knowledge and participate in the action right from their seats by calling out answers to the questions posed by the Kratt Brothers during the show.

Since their original Wild Kratts LIVE! touring show launched in 2014, Chris and Martin have performed to wildly-enthusiastic crowds of hundreds of thousands of fans – many of them sporting their own Creature Power Suits, just like the Kratt Brothers do in the popular series – in more than 135 cities across North America.

About Wild Kratts
Produced by The Kratt Brothers Company and 9 Story Media Group, the popular live-action and animated Wild Kratts television show just received its sixth Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Children’s Animated Series. The real-life Chris and Martin introduce each episode with a live-action segment that imagines what it would be like to experience a never-before-seen wildlife occurrence and sets the story in motion. Wild Kratts airs in more than 180 countries and is available in 18 languages.

5th Annual Community Plant Sale/Swap

CINCINNATI, OH – April 15, 2019 — The Arts Center at Dunham (ACAD) is hosting its fifth annual Community Plant Sale/Swap on Sunday, May 5th, from 10 am until 2 pm. This years’ event will be held in conjunction with Cincinnati Parks and Santa Maria Community Services “First Sundays Arts ‘n Smarts” event in Rapid Run Park (4450 Rapid Run Rd, 45205), just around the corner from our historic facility.

At this free event, gardeners can swap plants, bulbs and seeds from flowers, vegetables, fruits and trees with other local gardeners and pick up new plants for their gardens. Swap participants should bring their plants in a container (pot or bags) that is labelled with information, such as light and water requirement, height, spread, color, bloom time, and picture of bloom or mature plant.

The swap begins at 10 am for those who bring plants to swap. Those interested in starting a garden with no plants to swap can come at 11am to select any remaining plants, bulbs or seeds. Volunteers from the Hamilton County Master Gardener Program will be on hand to help place plants and answer questions. This event is a great way to get a garden started for free.

In addition to the free swap, flowering annuals, vegetable plants and hanging baskets will be available for sale. Perfect timing for Mother’s Day gift purchases! Baskets go quickly, so arrive early for the best selection.

Robben Florist & Garden Center (325 Pedretti Road), Allison Landscaping & Water Gardens (889 Anderson Ferry Road) and Wild Birds Unlimited Nature Shop (6496 Glenway Avenue) are partnering with the Arts Center at Dunham to donate a portion of their sales at the swap and at their stores through June 2 to benefit the Arts Center Restoration Fund. Pickup a flyer at the event or download at www.sunsetplayers.org, to use when shopping at their locations.
