When the Soady clan reunites for the opening day of deer season at the family’s Upper Peninsula camp, thirty-five-year-old Reuben Soady brings with him the infamous reputation of being the oldest Soady in the history of the Soadys never to bag a buck. In a hunting story to beat all hunting stories, ESCANABA IN DA MOONLIGHT spins a hilarious tale of humor, horror and heart as Reuben goes to any and all lengths to remove himself from the wrong end of the family record book.

THE GAME’S AFOOT Brings Murder and Laughs to Sunset Players’ Stage

CINCINNATI, OH – January 31, 2018 —Take part in the game and guess who did it in THE GAME’S AFOOT by Ken Ludwig at Sunset Players in Price Hill’s Arts Center at Dunham.

Set in December 1936, THE GAME’S AFOOT centers on Broadway star William Gillette, who is admired for his Sherlock Holmes portrayal and hosts a weekend party for his fellow cast members at his Connecticut castle. When one of the guests is stabbed to death, the festivities in this house of tricks and mirrors quickly turn dangerous. It’s up to Gillette, who assumes the role of Holmes, to track down the killer. The danger and hilarity are non-stop in this glittering whodunit set during the Christmas holidays.

Directed by John Wesseling, the cast includes:

  • Mary Ann Smith as Martha Gillette
  • Bob Brumberg as Felix Geisel
  • Carrie Mees as Madge Geisel
  • Nicholas Dunker as Simon Bright
  • Erica Brady as Aggie Wheeler
  • Jeri Nakamoura as Inspector Goring
  • Elaine Dunker as Daria Chase

Performance dates are February 16, 17, 23, 24, 25, March 1, 2 and 3, 2018. All shows are at 8PM, except Thursday at 7:30 PM and Sunday at 3 PM.  Sign language from Cincinnati State will be offered on February 24.

Tickets are $14 general admission or $12 for seniors, students or groups of 10 or more and can be purchased online at the Sunset Players website (www.sunsetplayers.org) or at the door. Tickets can also be reserved by calling 513-588-4988.

Sunset Players, Inc. is a community theater group located on the west side of Cincinnati. Founded in 1979, the group performs at the Arts Center at Dunham and has produced more than 120 plays. Its mission is to bring a smile, and its plays include comedies, farces, dramatic comedies and musical comedies—as long as there is some “comedy” in the performance somewhere. This is the endearing classic about a mouse named Stuart Little who is born into an ordinary New York family. All the charm, wisdom and joy of the E.B. White original are captured in this adaptation by Joseph Robinette, who also dramatized the highly acclaimed stage version of Charlotte’s Web. The many adventures—both big and small—of Stuart Little are brought vividly to life in this story theatre presentation.
