In the not-too-distant future and the age of artificial intelligence, 85-year-old Marjorie is trying to cope with the loss of her deceased husband through the use of a prime, an exact replica of him programmed to interact with her in human-like ways. What would we remember, and what would we forget, if given the chance? Would we rewrite the past? This play explores loss and memory, the mysteries of human identity and the limits (if any) of what technology can replace. MARJORIE PRIME was a finalist for the 2015 Pulitzer Prize for drama.

Applications Now Being Accepted for 2018-2019 Season Directors at CenterStage Players

CSPOH_logoCenterStage Players (OH) produce 4-5 shows a year at Lockland High School (249 W Forrer, 45215).  We have produced ACT award-winning productions of Acapulco, Take Me Out and Death of a Salesman among others.  You can find a list of previous productions on our website – www.centerstageplayersinc.com.

To achieve our high quality of theater, we are looking for creative, talented and experienced directors who are interested in creating theatrical magic on our stage to engage our audiences.  We are open to comedy, drama, farce and musical submissions and are particularly interested in rarely performed scripts, original works, and “edgy” scripts. Previous announcements advised we were not considering musicals, but there has been a revision in that announcement. We ARE accepting application for musicals and straight plays. Keep in mind that our move-in time has been cut from 2 weeks to less than one week at the Anderson Center. The Selection Committee will be considering the short move-in timeframe when choosing the season.

We generally include a holiday show in our season, which has in the past included child actors.

Go to the following link for the director application: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B3mTiNE7CWMJb25nZ3h6SjlDbVk.
Email the application by September 30, 2017 to Cathy Roesener, VP Shows for Beechmont Players, at c.a.roesener@gmail.com.
We ask that you recommend one, two or three scripts and send script files to centerstageplayersinc@yahoo.com.

The CenterStage Board will read the scripts and schedule interviews with applicants in November.

SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE Runs Sept. 2-30

SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE
Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park
Sept. 2-30
Marx Theatre [Eden Park]

Directed by Blake Robison

The beloved, Oscar-winning film comes to life onstage in an extravagant production that’s both wildly funny and irresistibly romantic. Young Will Shakespeare has writer’s block… the deadline for his new play is fast approaching but he’s in desperate need of inspiration. That is, until he finds his muse – Viola. Against a bustling backdrop of mistaken identity, ruthless scheming and backstage theatrics, Will’s love for Viola blossoms and inspires him to write his greatest masterpiece, Romeo and Juliet. Critically adored after its premiere on London’s West End, this exuberant romantic comedy will make you believe in love above all. Advisory: SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE is better suited for adults and teenage audiences. The cheeky humor of the show may seem innocent and refined, but it also contains sexual situations and mature themes related to blooming romance, theatrical ego and mildly tortured artistic souls.

In the not-so-distant future, a terrible water shortage and 20-year drought has led to a government ban on private toilets and a proliferation of paid public toilets, owned and operated by a single megalomaniac company: the Urine Good Company. If the poor don’t obey the strict laws prohibiting free urination, they’ll be sent to the dreaded and mysterious “Urinetown.” After too long under the heel of the malevolent Caldwell B. Cladwell, the poor stage a revolt, led by a brave young hero, fighting tooth and nail for the freedom to pee “wherever you like, whenever you like, for as long as you like, and with whomever you like.” A brilliant satire modeled off the plays of Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht, Urinetown is a wickedly funny, fast-paced, and surprisingly intelligent comedic romp.
