The battle for civil rights in the deep south was different from the rest of the nation. When Virgil Tibbs, a successful, black homicide detective from Los Angeles gets caught up in a homicide investigation in Argo, Alabama, he discovers just how different this world is. A gripping detective thriller in its own right, this play shows the ugly side of race relations in the south of the early 60s.

Based on the Emmy® Award-winning Saturday morning animated educational cartoon series and pop culture phenomenon which aired on ABC-TV from the 1970’s -1980’s, Schoolhouse Rock Live! JR. hits the Taft Theatre stage with a rock-and-roll revue, headed up by local rock sensations, The Rusty Griswolds!  Schoolhouse Rock Live! JR. follows Tom, a nerve-wracked school teacher who is nervous about his first day of teaching. He tries to relax by watching TV when various characters representing facets of his personality emerge from the set and show him how to win his students over with imagination and music, through such songs as “Just A Bill,” “Three is a Magic Number,” and “Conjunction Junction.”

National Costumers Association Scholarship Deadline is April 1

The National Costumers Association offers scholarships to qualified students. 2015 Applications must be submitted by April 1, 2015.

The National Costumers Association was organized on August 24, 1923, bringing together a small group of costumers dedicated to upgrading and promoting the costume industry. Through the years both the association and the industry have grown in size and scope.
