RING OF FIRE: THE MUSIC OF JOHNNY CASH
Presented by Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park
Jan. 17-Feb. 15
Eden Park

Directed by Jason Edwards

Cast: Trenna Barnes, Allison Briner, Jason Edwards & Derek Keeling

The songs tell the story in this tribute to a singer who broke barriers and left an unmatched legacy with roots in folk, gospel, rock and country. Directed by and featuring Jason Edwards, who starred in the show on Broadway, this musical celebration of the Man in Black spotlights nearly 35 classic songs, including “I Walk the Line,” “Jackson,” “A Boy Named Sue” and “Folsom Prison Blues.” A rousing portrait of home and family, love and loss, faith and redemption, RING OF FIRE lifts your heart and stirs your soul. Advisory: RING OF FIRE is appropriate for adults and teenage audiences. Cash’s own song lyrics tell the story, so there are mentions of his hard living years and of the plight of the prisoners he championed, but also stories of faith, love and redemption. Please contact the Box Office if you have questions or require additional information.

Auditions Announced for Village Players’ BLOOD RELATIONS

vp_logoVillage Players announces AUDITIONS for BLOOD RELATIONS at the Fort Thomas Woman’s Club (Street Level)!

Sunday, January 18, 2014 at 7:00 PM
Monday, January 19, 2014 at 7:00 PM

The play begins ten years after the Fall River murders: On a cool Sunday afternoon in the fall of 1902, an actress from Boston is visiting her friend, the infamous Miss Lizzie Borden. Miss Lizzie has spent the last ten years keeping a low profile since her acquittal of the murder of her father and stepmother.

Miss Lizzie proposes a game in which The Actress is to play the role of Lizzie, while the real Miss Lizzie paints the background of her home and family life, as well as taking on the role of the housemaid Bridget O’Sullivan. Miss Lizzie fills The Actress’ mind with images to guide her performance, as we witness pivotal moments leading up to the August morning in 1892 when Mr. and Mrs. Borden were found with thirteen and thirty-two axe blows to their heads.

The cast will consist of three actors and four actresses, 20s to 60s:

Men:

  • Harry, Lizzie’s step-uncle
  • Andrew Borden, Lizzie’s father
  • Dr. Patrick, the Irish doctor

Women:

  • Miss Lizzie
  • The Actress
  • Emma, Lizzie’s older sister
  • Abigail Borden, Lizzie’s step-mother

BLOOD RELATIONS will be staged April 17-25, 2014.

Auditions will consist of readings from the script. Bring resume and known conflicts Feb. 15-April 26.
Headshots welcome, but not necessary.

SOMETHING SOMETHING NEW VAGINA Runs Jan. 9-10

KTC_Something Something New VaginaSOMETHING SOMETHING NEW VAGINA
Presented by Cincinnati Fringe Festival
Jan. 9-10
Over-the-Rhine

A 2014 Cincy Fringe Encore. SOMETHING SOMETHING NEW VAGINA is a solo performance about loving one’s self and one’s body. It’s also about a vagina: Rebecca Kling’s fancy new vagina. Kling was previously seen at CincyFringe in 2012 with Storms Beneath Her Skin; now she’s back (she was never one to call it clits) and is ready to tackle issues of identity without ovary-acting. Climaxing with a Strip Q&A, you’d be doing yourself a dis-cervix if you miss it.

Rebecca Kling is a transgender artist and educator who explores gender and identity through solo pieces and educational workshops. Her multidisciplinary performances incorporate conversational storytelling, personal narrative, humor, movement, and more. Kling takes the position that sharing accessible queer narrative with a wide audience is a form of activism, and that understanding combats bigotry. She regularly tours to colleges, universities, and theatre festivals across the country, and has received praise from media outlets coast to coast.
