LCT announces Cincinnati Shakespeare Company’s THE COMEDY OF ERRORS is a 4-Star show.

“Cincinnati Shakespeare has mounted another fast-paced, thoroughly entertaining production of a classic Shakespearean comedy. The carnival concept worked perfectly, and the sight gags were hilarious” states one panelist.

Billed as one of Shakespeare’s silliest and earliest comedies, it features not just one but two sets of twins and all the hijinks that follow due to the mistaken identities. Jeremy Dubin and Paul Riopelle delight as “the Dromios” with “their fantastic comedic timing and facial expressions.”

THE COMEDY OF ERRORS runs through December 12 and tickets can be purchased at www.cincyshakes.com.

Nominations for LCT awards will be determined and announced at the end of the season and winners awarded at the annual LCT party in the summer. The League of Cincinnati Theatres was founded in 1999 to strengthen, nurture and promote Cincinnati’s theatre community. Panelists for the League of Cincinnati Theatres (LCT) announce that FAILURE: A LOVE STORY has earned 4-Stars and recognize the director, Corrie Danieley.

Produced by Northern Kentucky University Department of Theatre and Dance, panelists state it is “Hands down one of the best main stage shows I have ever seen at NKU. It has everything.” Another added “an enchanting, energetic, somewhat whimsical story.”

“Themes of death/ love/ passage of time are all universal truths and presented with sincerity for the form and style that Danieley created so beautifully,” states another panelist.

Set in 1928 and written by Chicago playwright Philip Dawkins, FAILURE: A LOVE STORY is a magical, musical fable that traces the triumphs and defeats of the Fail sisters’ lives, lived out in the rickety two-story building by the Chicago River that was the family home and clock shop.

FAILURE: A LOVE STORY continues through December 7. Tickets can be purchased at http://artscience.nku.edu/departments/theatre/season/mainstage3.html

Seasons Sweetings with New Edgecliff Radio Show on Dec. 14

Seasons Sweetings with New Edgecliff Radio Show
It’s a new reason to believe.

NET_Seasons SweetingsThis December New Edgecliff Theatre’s (NET) ever-popular radio drama fundraiser “Sweet Suspense” becomes Seasons Sweetings for the holidays.

The players of fictional WNET radio station return to put their stamp on the holiday classic A Miracle on 34th Street. They bring to life the entire story through dozens of character voices and live Foley sound effects by Media Heritage’s Mike Martini. The WNET Radio Players will perform a one-night only event at 7pm, Sunday, December 14 at Northside Tavern. Seating is limited, so order tickets early. This holiday classic features returning NET actors and several new performers, portraying a variety of voice roles for a live studio audience – but not broadcast!

“Radio theatre is a wonderful thing to experience,” says artistic director Jim Stump. “The audience gets to actually see sound effects being created, while actors not only perform on microphone, but interact off-microphone as well. It’s fascinating and entertaining.”

In addition to the performance, the audience will be treated to The Midwest Culinary Institute of Cincinnati State providing delectable desserts to treat your taste buds, and “Sweet Suspense” regular Bob Allen returns to direct.

Listen as Macy’s Department Store comes to life in the Theatre of the Mind as you are whisked away to yesteryear in this radio adaptation of one of the most beloved retro Christmas tales. Listen as store manager Doris Walker frantically hires a replacement Santa for the Thanksgiving Day Parade. Is he the real Kris Kringle, or just a sad, delusional man? Beliefs and sanity are tested when Kris is thrown into an asylum, but with the help of a friendly lawyer and the belief of a little girl, the true Spirit of Christmas endures. Tickets are available online at CincyTicket.com or by calling 1.888.428.7311. All tickets are $35 for adults and $20 for children 12 and under.
