New Edgecliff Theatre opens its 2014-15 Season with THE LITTLE DOG LAUGHED by Douglas Carter Beane − a contemporary comedy about relationships and image in Hollywood. The players in this tabloid age story include a hard-driving Hollywood agent, her budding screen idol client, a sexy young drifter, and the drifter’s naive, needy girlfriend.

THE LITTLE DOG LAUGHED follows the adventures of Mitchell Green, a movie star who could hit big if it weren’t for one teensy-weensy problem. His agent, Diane, can’t seem to keep him in the closet. Trying to help him navigate Hollywood’s choppy waters, the devilish Diane is doing all she can to keep Mitchell away from the cute rent boy Alex who’s caught his eye. Meanwhile, the rent boy’s girlfriend Ellen (wait, the rent boy has a girlfriend?) has problems of her own. Will there be a happy ending as the final credits roll? Featuring Nic Pajic, Kemper Florin, Jared Earland and Erin Ward.

The production is directed by Lindsey Augusta Mercer who served as Assistant Director last season on NET’s productions of Bus Stop, The 12 Dates of Christmas and Other People’s Money. She recently graduated from Baldwin Wallace University with a BA in Theatre and History. In the summer of 2013 she was chosen to participate in a Directing intensive at the Kennedy Center. She recently returned from a summer of Opera in Arezzo, Italy, where she had the pleasure of working on amazing pieces such as La Rondine, I Capuleti e Montecchi and Cosí Fan Tutte.

The show runs September 25 to October 11 at the Hoffner Lodge located at 4120 Hamilton Avenue in Northside. New Edgecliff Theatre will be moving to their new facility on Blue Rock Street in Northside later next month but they wanted to start the season in their new neighborhood. Hoffner Lodge has hosted theatrical productions in the past including Les Belles-sœurs. The Hoffner Masonic Lodge is in the heart of the business and entertainment district of Northside, and is one of the many historic treasures designed by Cincinnati architect, Samuel Hannaford.

Due to the subject matter and adult themes, parental discretion is advised.
