A Savage walks into a bar. She has a purse full of cash and a consuming need to make a change in her life, starting with the apartment she shares with her mother. At this Bronx bar she’s surrounded by other stunted losers, fellow 32 year olds who peaked long ago. Some of them find freedom at the bottom, while others find they’re still alone. Savage in Limbo is a heartrending dark comedy about unrealized potential and realizing you never had potential to begin with.

IWU Theatre Guild Presents MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING

Florence, KY, October 5th, 2012 – Indiana Wesleyan University-Florence is pleased to announce they will be hosting the IWU Theatre Guild’s performances of William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing. Using original practices, the production embraces the settings and challenges that Shakespeare faced. All proceeds go to benefit the Indiana Wesleyan University Theatre Scholarship Fund.

Don Pedro of Aragon and his troops return from war and are welcomed home by Leonato, the governor of Messina. Claudio, Don Pedro’s right hand man, falls in love with Leonato’s daughter, Hero. Leonato’s niece, Beatrice, and Claudio’s friend Benedick have a love-hate relationship and both declare that they will never fall in love. Don Pedro, Claudio, Hero, and Leonato decide to try to trick Beatrice and Benedick into loving one another. Don Pedro’s half brother, Don John, devises a plot against Claudio in which he will trick Claudio into believing that Hero has been unfaithful. On Claudio and Hero’s wedding day, Claudio publicly shames Hero and leaves the wedding in a great scene. Beatrice asks Benedick to challenge Claudio, and a merry war ensues.

SPRING AWAKENING runs Nov. 9-18

SPRING AWAKENING
Presented by Wright State University
Nov. 9-18
Dayton

Directed by Joe Deer
Music directed by Sherri Sutter
Choreographed by Dionysia Williams

Cast: Tommi Harsch as Wendla Bergman, Jon Hacker as Melchior Gabor, Drew Helton as Moritz Stiefel, Paige Dobkins as Martha Bessell, Caroline Gruber as Thea, Liz Romey as Anna, Ria Villaver as Ilse Neumann, Justin King as Hanschen/Rupert, Logan Torbet as Ernst/Heinhold, Sean Jones as Georg/Dieter, Zach Warner as Otto/Ulbrecht, Lauren Schorr as Greta, Chrissy Bowen as Adult women & Andrew Quiett as Adult men

It’s Germany, 1891. A world where the grown-ups hold all the cards. The beautiful young Wendla explores the mysteries of her body, and wonders aloud where babies come from, till Mama tells her to shut it, and put on a proper dress. Elsewhere, the brilliant and fearless young Melchior interrupts a mind-numbing Latin drill to defend his buddy Moritz – a boy so traumatized by puberty he can’t concentrate on anything. Not that the Headmaster cares. He strikes them both and tells them to turn in their lesson. One afternoon – in a private place in the woods – Melchior and Wendla meet by accident, and soon find within themselves a desire unlike anything they’ve ever felt. As they fumble their way into one another’s arms, Moritz flounders and soon fails out of school. When even his one adult friend, Melchior’s mother, ignores his plea for help, he is left so distraught he can’t hear the promise of life offered by his outcast friend Ilse. Naturally, the Headmasters waste no time in pinning the “crime” of Moritz’s suicide on Melchior and expel him. And soon Mama learns her little Wendla is pregnant. Now the young lovers must struggle against all odds to build a world together for their child. –StageAgent.com
