CCPA & CYPT Present 31st Annual Summer Show THE WEDDING SINGER

The Covedale Center for the Performing Arts
& Cincinnati Young People’s Theatre
Present our 31st annual summer show

THE WEDDING SINGER
July 27 – August 5, 2012

Reggie Hemphill as Sammy, Dorsey Ziller as Grandma Rosie, Brian Spencer as George, Kelcey Steele as Robbie Hart, Kalie Kaimann as Linda, Lindsey Mullen as Julia & Jo Ellen Pellman as Holly.

The Covedale Center for the Performing Arts, 4990 Glenway Avenue announces the Cincinnati Young People’s Theatre’s 31st annual summer musical – THE WEDDING SINGER – running Friday, July 27 through Sunday, August 5, 2012!

In THE WEDDING SINGER, its 1985 and rock-star wannabe Robbie Hart is New Jersey’s favorite wedding singer. He’s the life of the party, until his own fiancee leaves him at the altar. Shot through the heart, Robbie makes every wedding as disastrous as his own. With a brand new score that pays loving homage to the pop songs of the 1980’s, THE WEDDING SINGER takes us back to a time when hair was big, greed was good, collars were up, and a wedding singer might just be the coolest guy in the room.

Tim Perrino, Director; Steve Goers, Music Director; Jennifer Martin, Choreographer; Nicola Burgun Production Stage Manager; Susan Stephenson, Asst. Stage Manager

Through a process of residencies, workshops and staged readings, The Human Race not only contributes to the art form, but builds an audience for the new musical.

This marks The Human Race’s fifth annual festival that showcases musicals in development, and the second year of including a new work from Encore Theater Company.

35MM: A MUSICAL EXHIBITION
Presented by Encore Theatre Company
They say a picture is worth 1,000 words, but what about a song? Can one picture inspire a song? How about fifteen photos? In 35MM, each photo creates a different song completely disconnected from the other creating fifteen different and unique moments frozen in time; a glimmer of a life unfolding, a glimpse of something happening. This stunning new multimedia musical explores a groundbreaking new concept in musical theatre. With music and lyrics by Ryan Scott Oliver (Composer of Disney Theatricals’ upcoming stage musical Freaky Friday) and the contemporary photography of Matthew Murphy, this intricately woven collection of stories told through song re-imagines what the modern American musical can be.

  • Sat, Aug. 4 at 7pm
