Would you defy a king? In A Man for All Seasons, Robert Bolt shares an often-overlooked point of view on the divorce of King Henry VIII: that of the average person. When the King realizes that his Queen, Katherine of Aragon, cannot produce an heir to his throne, he sets out to procure a divorce. But as a man of his word and Lord Chancellor of England, Sir Thomas More greatly opposes the proposal. Will he defend his moral values? Or will he give in to the unholy actions of the king? Find out in this historical tale of ambition, integrity, and principles—told from the Common Man’s perspective.

Young Male Actor Needed for GHCT’s THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE

Greater Hamilton Civic Theatre is looking for a young man to play the role of Luke in its October production of THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE. The character Luke is in his 20’s, brash, impetuous, and a womanizer. He is an heir to the Hill House property and is a distinct non-believer in supernatural phenomena, placing him in particular harm when confronted with the reality of it.

Production dates are October 6-9 at Parrish Auditorium, Miami University, Hamilton. Interested men should contact the director Michael Shawn Starks at michaelshawnstarks@yahoo.com.

A CATERED AFFAIR runs Sept. 9-18

A CATERED AFFAIR
Presented by Lebanon Theatre Company
Sept. 9-18
Lebanon

This musical, by four-time Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein, score by John Bucchino and direction by Tony Award-winner John Doyle, poses the question that inevitably faces every mother and daughter: whose wedding is it anyway? It’s 1953, and family ties are strained when a Bronx mother struggles to give her only daughter the elaborate wedding she herself never had and the bride never asked for. Based on the 1956 motion picture of the same name. It’s a funny, poignant and oh-so-human tale of love and disaffection, exploring both our need for love and the true meaning of family.
