This little known mystery will surprise and delight Christie fans. Written in 1934, the story concerns a physicist named Sir Claude Amory who has come up with a formula for an atom bomb. In the first act, Sir Claude is poisoned (in his coffee, naturally) and Hercule Poirot is called in to solve the case. He does so after many wonderful twists and turns in true Christie fashion.

This hilarious spoof of the best of Agatha Christie traditions is set in a country manor house in the 1930’s, with an assembled cast of characters guaranteed to delight – Bunting, the butler; an English Colonel with the prerequisite stiff upper lip; a shady French art dealer and his moll; the bumbling local inspector and a well-meaning local sleuth who seems to attract murder wherever she goes – they’re all here, and all caught up in the side-splitting antics which follow the mysterious death of the house’s owner. It soon becomes clear that the murderer isn’t finished yet, but will the murderer be unmasked before everyone else has met their doom, or will readers and audiences die laughing first?

Black Coffee is the story of a physicist named Sir Claude Amory who has come up with a formula for an atom bomb. In the first act, Sir Claude is poisoned (in his coffee, naturally) and Hercule Poirot is called upon to solve the case. Christie fans will be delighted by the many wonderful twists and turns in this little known play from the Grand Dame herself.

When six spinsters tire of watching the handsome homicide detective next door through their binoculars, they hatch a plot to get him to pay them an official visit. It involves just a bit arsenic. Uproariously funny situations follow involving swooning, tea, giggling, and so forth.
