Village Players of Fort Thomas Announce Female-Fueled 2022-2023 Season

vp_logoVillage Players of Fort Thomas is excited to announce our 2022-23 mainstage season, anchored by four female directors with deep theatrical experience helming a brilliant mix of fresh, starling, moving, and laugh-out-loud funny shows.

THE TAMING by Lauren Gunderson
September 30-October 8, 2022
Courtesy of Playscripts
Directed by Betsy Bossart

Tweetering, pandashrews, and undying giddiness for James Madison — what else could you expect to find at a Miss America pageant? In this hilarious, raucous, all-female “power-play” inspired by Shakespeare’s Shrew, contestant Katherine has political aspirations to match her beauty pageant ambitions. All she needs to revolutionize the American government is the help of one ultra-conservative senator’s aide on the cusp of a career breakthrough, and one bleeding-heart liberal blogger who will do anything for her cause. Well, that and a semi-historically-accurate ether trip. Here’s lookin’ at you, America.

Holiday New Works
December 2-10, 2022
Directed by Angela Klocke Forbes

A special holiday production of original short plays (details TBA).

AIRNESS by Chelsea Marcantel
February 24-March 4, 2023
Courtesy of Playscripts
Directed by Becky Collins

When Nina enters her first air guitar competition, she thinks winning will be easy. But as she befriends a group of charismatic nerds all committed to becoming the next champion, she discovers that there’s more to this art form than playing pretend; it’s about finding yourself in your favorite songs, and performing with raw joy. Will Nina be able to let go and set herself free onstage? Following her mission to shred or be shredded, Airness is an exuberant reminder that everything we need to rock is already inside us. A comedy about competition, completion, and finding the airness inside yourself.

SHE KILLS MONSTERS by Qui Nguyen
April 28-May 6, 2023
Courtesy of Concord Theatricals
Directed by Amy Waldfogle

A comedic romp into the world of fantasy role-playing games! In this high-octane dramatic comedy laden with homicidal fairies, nasty ogres and 90s pop culture, acclaimed playwright Qui Nguyen offers a heart-pounding homage to the geek and warrior within us all.

Season packages are $60 and individual show tickets are $20 and can be purchased onlnie at villageplayers.org.
