CSP(OH) Call for 2014-2015 Directors

CSPO_logoCenterStage Players is now accepting applications for Directors in our 2014-2015 season.

Generally, CenterStage Players (OH) produce 3-4 shows a year, which have been performed at the North College Hill City Center in Cincinnati, OH. To see what shows we have recently done, please visit www.centerstageplayersinc.com/previous-seasons.

Interested applicants should send information to Trisha Cooper, Vice-President of Production before the deadline of December 16th, 2013. The CenterStage Board will schedule interviews with applicants in early January 2014.

Please include the following information with your response. One show per director, please:

  1. Your theatrical resume and contact information.
  2. List any production or technical crew persons that work with you on a regular basis.
  3. List a play you would like to direct and please answer the following questions:
    • What technical issues does the show present, and how would you resolve them?
    • Are there any foreseen casting difficulties with the show? How would you over-come them?
    • What draws you, as a director, to want to work on this show? 

4. One copy of the script (s) so that the CenterStage Board can read through it before your interview. We prefer to received scripts electronically if possible. If this is not possible, please ensure the script is one easily available, e.g. at the public library.

Auditions for the Independent Short Comedy film COMING CLEAN

Time: 5:30-8:30pm

Where: Campbell County Library – Newport Branch, 901 East 6th Street, Newport, KY 41071

“They say that breaking up is hard to do, but depends on who is doing the breaking.” An independent film crew is looking to fill for the following roles:

  • One Woman that looks between the ages of 25-35
  • Two Men that look between the ages of 25-35

We will also be looking for extras, and other minor roles where needed. All cast and crew positions are unpaid, but will be provided with a DVD copy of the film.

Actors will perform cold readings from the script.

A headshot and resume is appreciated but not required.

Filming is slated to take place January 2014.

THE NORMAL HEART by Larry Kramer will presented by Polly L. Heinkel in cooperation with Miami University Hamilton Theatre will be holding OPEN auditions on OCTOBER 9, 2013 and OCTOBER 10, 2013 from 7pm-9pm, in 307 Phelps Hall, Hamilton, OH. Call backs if needed will be held OCTOBER 14, 2013.

PLEASE prepare 1 Modern Monologue or Cold Readings are available and bring a resumé and head shot.

SSP Announces Auditions for NEXT TO NORMAL

SSP_logoSunset players would like to announce the auditions for the community theater premier of the Pulitzer Prize winning musical NEXT TO NORMAL. Show date are July 11, 12, 18, 19, 20, 24, 25, and 26.

NEXT TO NORMAL tells the story of a mother, Diane Goodman, who struggles with bipolar disorder and the effect that her illness has on her family. This contemporary musical is an emotional powerhouse that addresses such issues as grieving a loss, ethics in modern psychiatry, and suburban life. With provocative lyrics and a thrilling score, this musical shows how far two parents will go to keep themselves sane and their family’s world intact.

Audition dates are November 10th and 12th, with call backs November 17th. Please bring 16 bars of a prepared song not from the show. Accompainist will be provided.

Audition times will be scheduled in 10 minute increments with walk ups being scheduled after those who have reserved time slots.

Characters:

Dan- Diana’s husband. He is handsome and genuine. Though a constant in Diana’s tumultuous life, he has grown tired and weary of her antics.
Male, able to play 40-45 yrs old
Range: Ab2 – B4

Diana- Delusional, bipolar, and depressed. The sexiness of her yesterdays has only recently begun to soften. She is determined to make her family perfect but is tortured by a death in the family.
Female, able to play 40-45 yrs old
Range: G3 – F#5

Dr. Madden- Diana’s handsome psychiatrist. Quite assured in his practice and considered somewhat of a rock star.
Male, able to play 30-40 yrs old
Range: A2 – A4

Gabe- Diana & Dan’s son. Dashing, athletic, and bright. He is a playful man and everything a mother could imagine.
Male, able to play 18-21 yrs old
Range: B2 – C5

Henry- Natalie’s classmate. The all-around musician, philosopher, and slacker. He has an intoxicating capacity for sympathy and romance.
Male, able to play 17 yrs old
Range: G#2 – B4

Natalie- Diana & Dan’s troubled daughter. An accomplished pianist and hardworking student, her struggles are exacerbated by her mother’s behavior. She greatly admires Henry.
Female, able to play 16 yrs old
Range: G3 – G5
