Tri-County Players and Director John Vanderplough announce auditions for the drama GEEZERS by Tommy Lee Johnston.

GEEZERS is the story of a twenty-something young man who takes his first job in the a retirement community. While there, he interacts with several of the seniors who teach him much about the world and about himself. Each senior has a backstory which is dramatized by each having a younger version of themselves tell their story to Jack.
Main Characters:
- Jack (stage age mid-20s)– the key character and lead of the show. It’s a challenging role as Jack is in just about every scene. His anxiety sometimes makes it difficult for him to communicate.
- Gina (age 35-45)– a nurse practitioner director of nursing services; hard-edged as she takes her job seriously. Also a heavy role.
- Jenny (age 40-55)– a regular visitor to the facility to see Miss Emily. Jenny has only a few scenes, but she is important for her interactions with Emily.
The Geezers:
- Ray– likes to sleep in the recliner, and he constantly carries his pillow with him as a companion. He drops in and out of conversations as he sleeps.
- Neil– an Air Force veteran who now walks with cane. A bit of a curmudgeon, he is quick-witted and likes to jab anyone within earshot.
- Kate– Former actress who never forgoes an opportunity to speak of her glory days. She runs the roost at the center, and looks to catch the eye of any breathing man who may be in the room.
- Emily– suffers from dementia, quietly watches many hours of TV, but has moments of great lucidity.
- Young Ray, Young Neil, and Young Kate (stage age 20-27)– These three each tell the Geezer’s backstory in one long, dramatic scene with Jack. Because of this, there will be limited rehearsals until September.
Performances: Six shows, Friday, September 29 – October 8, 2023. Sunday matinees.
Load-in/tech week: September 22–28.
Venue is Bell Tower Arts Pavillion, Evendale. OH.
