Pay Rate: $18/hour (approx. 62 hours of work needed – 46 rehearsal hours and 16 performance hours)

Director: Aiden Dalton

Synopsis: Ken Ludwig’s SHERWOOD: The Adventures of Robin Hood is an action-packed, side-splitting adaptation of the timeless classic. With thrills, romance, laughter, and immortal characters like Little John, Friar Tuck, and Maid Marian, Sherwood: The Adventures of Robin Hood tells the enduring story of a hero of the people who takes on the ruthless powers that be.

Production Schedule:
1st Rehearsal: on or around May 4, 2024
Opens: May 17, 2024
Closes: May 19, 2024
Rain Dates: May 23-25, 2024

Weekend rehearsals will most likely be in 6 hour blocks during the day. Weeknight rehearsals will be from approx. 6pm-10pm. Additionally, May 14 and May 16 will have rehearsal time during the day (approx. 11am-4pm). Performances will have 6pm call times and start at 7pm for evening shows, and have call times of 1pm with a 2pm start time for matinees.

Submission Instructions: To submit, please use the email heading: “STAGE MANAGER SUBMISSION.” In the body of your email please include where you are currently based, if you have housing available in the Greater Cincinnati area during the time of production and ALL CONFLICTS you may have between May 4-19, and between May 23-15, 2024. Attach a copy of your updated resume of relevant work history and a brief cover letter explaining your interest in the role and why you would make a good fit. What to prepare: Please prepare two comedic monologues, one classic and one contemporary.

Video Submission: Video auditions will be accepted on a rolling basis from now until March 12, 2024 at 11:59pm EST. Please slate your name and where you are based before starting your audition materials. To submit, use the same audition google form link above.

Breakdown:

Actors can be cis or trans. Ages are flexible. All actors will play multiple roles. We strongly encourage BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ performers to submit their work, as we seek to uplift the voices of underrepresented artists.

  • Robin Hood: (Male, Mid-20s, Any Ethnicity)- The iconic hero, he steals from the rich and gives to the poor.
  • Maid Marian: (Female, Mid-20s, Any Ethnicity) – The best archer in all of England. Noble and Independent. 
  • Friar Tuck: (Any Gender, 30s to 40s, Any Ethnicity)- The narrator, an earnest warrior, and Robin’s guide. 
  • Deorwynn (pronounced “Deer-Win”) : (Female, Early 20s, Any Ethnicity)- A fiery young woman deeply affected by the tyranny of her government. 
  • Little John: (Any Gender, 20s to 30s, Any Ethnicity)- The Strongest Fighter in Nottingham, simple but a heart of gold.
  • Sir Guy of Gisbourne: (Male, 30s, Any Ethnicity)- The current Earl of Nottingham, vile and cruel. Willing to do anything to achieve his ends.
  • The Sheriff of Nottingham: (Any Gender, Any Age, Any Ethnicity) – A cowardly enforcer of the tyrannical government.
  • Prince John: (Any Gender, 20s to early 30s, Any Ethnicity)- The usurper of the English throne, completely self absorbed. Willing to do anything to retain his newfound power.

Making the Arts Accessible Workshop On March 4 (Online March 5-11) from Ghostlight Stage Company

TGL_Making the Arts AccessibleMany artists and producers don’t know quite where to start when it comes to making their programming more accessible for all. For some, it could be they just don’t know where to start. For others, it could be the financial barriers of implementing different strategies. The Ghostlight has brought in experts from Clovernook Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired and Ghost Light Artistic Interpreting to take some of the guesswork out. Join us for this informative 2 hour lecture on how anyone can make their artistic ventures more accessible, no matter the size of their budget.

A 2-hour workshop including:

  • how to provide a more equitable cultural experience for people who are blind or low vision and deaf or hard of hearing (and easy / budget friendly places to start)
  • how to engage and co-design with people who are blind or low vision
  • what makes a qualified theater interpreter
  • how to build your audience with access in mind

This workshop will be led by Samuel Foulkes and other team members of Cincinnati Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired and Keara Beck Ortt of Ghost Light Artistic Interpreting.
