EdTA Seeking Teaching Artists

EdTA_logoThe Educational Theatre Association seeks teaching artists and theatre educators to teach student workshops as well as professional development courses at the Thespian Festival and the EdTA National Conference.

EdTA strives to create balanced events that cover a variety of topics within the discipline of theatre. Technical theatre courses are particularly needed as are theatre courses that align with the new National Standards for Theatre Education. EdTA offers student programming meant to prepare young people for colleges and careers.

The Thespian Festival, a weeklong celebration of high school theatre, will be held June 23-28 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Last year, the Festival featured over 100 workshops and master classes for students and teachers. Workshop presenters will be expected to teach at least eight sessions during Festival week. Many presenters will receive an honorarium as well as room and board. However, they are expected to secure their own transportation to and from Lincoln. Festival proposals will be accepted until April 1.

The 2014 EdTA National Conference is a four-day professional development opportunity for middle and high school theatre educators. Conference is scheduled for July 24-27 in Cincinnati. EdTA is looking for workshops that address the theme of the event, Theatre at the Core. EdTA seeks courses for new and experienced educators focusing on the fundamentals of theatre education, curriculum, technology, 21st-century skills, arts integration, and differentiated learning. Conference proposals will be accepted until March 15.
