TDPH_The PromHE PROM
Dayton Playhouse
Sept. 22-Oct. 8
[Dayton]

Directed by Tim Rezash

Four eccentric Broadway stars are in desperate need of a new stage. So when they hear that trouble is brewing around a small-town prom, they know that it’s time to put a spotlight on the issue…and themselves. The town’s parents want to keep the high school dance on the straight and narrow—but when one student just wants to bring her girlfriend to prom, the entire town has a date with destiny. On a mission to transform lives, Broadway’s brassiest join forces with a courageous girl and the town’s citizens and the result is love that brings them all together. Winner of the Drama Desk Award for Best Musical, THE PROM expertly captures all the humor and heart of a classic musical comedy with a message that resonates with audiences now more than ever.

POWER IN THE BLOOD, written by accomplished playwright Sarah Bewley, directed by Jennifer Lockwood. This powerful script, debuted at FutureFest in 1993, is a play about faith. This unique event in Playhouse history will include a staged reading of Bewley’s powerful play, hors d’oeuvres and refreshments in our lobby, and a silent auction. All proceeds will support the return of the FutureFest festival of new works in July of 2024.

Tickets to this night of theater and fellowship on July 22 at 7:00 PM are available now on the Dayton Playhouse website. At only $20, this is an easy and affordable way to support Dayton’s longest running festival for new dramatic works.

DPH_Evil DeadEVIL DEAD the Musical
Dayton Playhouse
June 16-25
[Dayton]

Cast: John Detty as Ash, Shana Fishbein as Linda, Sarah Roddey as Cheryl, Jake Spicer as Scotty, Madison Stapleton as Shelly, Jessica Detty as Annie, Matthew Ebersbach as Jake, Naman Clark as Ed/Moose & A Special Guest as Professor Knowby

Five college students spend the weekend in an abandoned cabin in the woods, accidentally unleashing an evil terror. In this comedic take on the legendary horror franchise, characters and demons sing and dance to songs written specifically for the musical. The musical takes creative liberty with the plot line of the movies, mixing the characters and concepts of all three, as well as changing sequences for the sake of the stage and comedic intent. Roughly, the first act adapts the original The Evil Dead while the second act adapts Evil Dead II. The show contains large amounts of swearing, violence, and blood effects.
