The Bridges of Madison County is a romantic drama that explores the emotional complexities of love, choices, and the impact of decisions made in a person’s life. The story revolves around a passionate affair between a National Geographic photographer, Robert Kincaid, and an Italian-American housewife, Francesca Johnson, in the rural town of Winterset, Iowa, in 1965. The Bridges of Madison County is a poignant and evocative exploration of love, regret, and the profound impact of decisions on the course of one’s life. The musical adaptation successfully translates the emotional depth of the novel to the stage, creating a compelling and memorable theatrical experience.

In this enchanting town, love is in the air, and the unexpected and hilarious ways it unfolds will warm your heart. Knees may get bruised, and hearts may break, but as the night progresses, they also heal and mend—almost, like a delightful midwinter night’s dream.

The Chrysalis by Joe Ricci

  • DR. JOHN SICURA (65): A widower for almost two years, father to Kerrigan and Vicki. Normally easygoing but has grown restless living alone in the big house and yearns for more.
  • KERRIGAN SICURA (35): John’s younger daughter. Tightly pulled together and type A. She is the breadwinner of her family, pulling in a high 6-figure salary working a high-pressure job in finance. Can be quirky and funny. Married to Colin.
  • COLIN (33): A former investigative reporter, now a stay-at-home dad for Kerrigan’s and his twin boys. Struggles with restlessness and loneliness with Kerrigan working so much.
  • VICKI SICURA (39): John’s older daughter. An artist in every aspect of her life. Follows her muse wherever it takes her and always says what’s on her mind, no matter how inappropriate.
  • OLIVIA DESANTOS (34): Very attractive and bubbly real estate agent. A real pro who always has a smile and does whatever she can to make the client comfortable.
    The Cure by Alex Dremann
  • JOAN (52): Matt’s mother. This is a woman who has lots of stuff, both external and internal. Disheveled but it all works for her—never too much.
  • MATT (24): Joan’s son. Handsome, athletic, but otherwise an enigmatic blank slate.
    The same actor also plays:

    • KIDNEY (Octavio)
    • LUNG (Mrs. Arasky)
    • SKIN (Hank)
    • EYES (Topher)
    • LIVER (Johnson)
    • HEART (Mason)
  • AMANDA (20s): Nurse. Blunt, sarcastic, and perhaps terrible at her job, or perhaps terribly awesome at her job.
  • ANNETTE (50): Joan’s sister. Pragmatic, logical, and has her stuff together.
  • NANCY (40s-50s): Hospital administrator and transplant coordinator. Hard-edged but wants people to like her. They don’t.
  • DAGNEY (20s): Matt’s ex-girlfriend (aka “WOMAN”).

The Four by Catherine Butterfield
