CSP(OH) Announces Auditions for THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER

CSPO_logoCenterStage Players will hold auditions for their December performance of THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER at their performance venue – The North College Hill City Center (1500 W. Galbraith Road, Cincinnati, OH 45231)

Monday, September 9th, 6-9 PM and Tuesday, September 10th, 6-9 PM
(if necessary, Callbacks will be on Thursday, September 12th)

Speaking roles are available for 17 youth performers (stage age 5-13) as well as 10 adults.

We also want to cast a large youth choir for this show.

No appointment necessary. Auditioners will be taken in the approximate order of arrival.

Auditioners should plan to sing 16-32 bars of a Christmas song (with or without accompaniment –

Please bring a CD or appropriate sheet music if you desire accompaniment).

Some auditioners may be asked to read from the script.

Rehearsals will be held on Tuesday evenings, Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings – Beginning on October 8th.

Show dates are December 5th, 6th, 7th (2 shows) and 8th, 2013.

In this hilarious Christmas tale, a mother struggling to put on a church Christmas pageant is faced with casting the Herdman kids– probably the most inventively awful kids in history. You won’t believe the mayhem– and the fun– when the Herdmans collide with the Christmas story head on!

Roles available:

  • Mr. Lockwood: Tenant of Thurshcross Grange, older gentleman
  • Joseph: Manservant at Wuthering Heights, older, has been in the service of the Earnshaw’s for decades. Speaks with a heavy Yorkshire accent
  • Cathy Linton: Daughter of Catherine and Edgar Linton, Widow of Linton Heathcliffe
  • Hareton Earnshaw: Son of Hindley Earnshaw, a year or two older than Cathy Linton.
  • Heathcliff: Street urchin from Liverpool brought to Wuthering Heights by Catherine and Hindley’s father. Close in age to Catherine, dark, there will be stage combat required in this role.
  • Ellen Dean: Housekeeper of Thrushcross Grange, Hareton’s former nurse. Came to serve at Wuthering Heights when she was quite young, has been with the family for decades.
  • Catherine Earnshaw: Wuthering Heights, young, strong-willed, considered very pretty and spoiled; used to having her own way.
  • Edgar Linton: Thrushcross Grange, husband of Catherine Earnshaw, son of a wealthy family.
  • Hindley Earnshaw: Catherine’s elder brother, a drunk, bitter man still grieving the loss of his wife who died giving birth to their son, Hareton. Has deep resentment and hatred of Heathcliffe. Stage combat required of this role.
  • Isabella Linton: Edgar Linton’s younger sister, gentle, contemporary of Catherine

A modern romantic comedy about a marriage and a dog. Husband brings home a dog he found in the park—or that has found him—bearing only the name “Sylvia” on her name tag. Sylvia becomes a major bone of contention between husband and wife. The marriage is put in serious jeopardy until, after a series of hilarious and touching complications, they learn to compromise, and Sylvia becomes a valued part of their lives….

Cast: Barbara Karol as Cecily, Ray Lebowski as Wilfred, Wayne Kirsch as Reggie & Sheila Mudd Baker as Jean

Cecily, Reggie and Wilfred reside in a home for retired opera singers in Kent, England. Each year, on the tenth of October, there is a concert to celebrate Verdi’s birthday. Jean, who used to be married to Reggie, arrives at the home and disrupts their equilibrium. She still acts like a diva and refuses to sing. But the show must go on in this funny and poignant play.
