Cincinnati, OH – Following their previous success from their production of Aristophanes: The Birds, The Walnut Hills High School Theatre Department is eager to welcome audiences to their junior high musical, Rock of Ages (Youth Performance Edition). The show runs May 9-11, 2023 at 7 p.m.

Set on L.A.’s famous Sunset Strip in 1987, Rock of Ages Youth Edition tells the story of Drew, a city boy from South Detroit, and Sherrie, a small-town girl, who have both traveled to L.A. to chase their dreams of making it big and falling in love. This classic love story is set against the troubles at the Dupree Room, a “legendary temple of rock ‘n’ roll excellence” under threat by developers of being torn down and replaced with a strip mall. The threats of closure bring legendary rocker Stacee Jaxx to town, and an opportunity for Drew to chase his dream to rock out with the best.

Trouble brews as Drew abandons Sherrie for his dream of stardom, rock ‘n’ roll bad boy Stacee lures Sherrie away, and the Dupree Room is surrendered to developers. Can Drew and Sherrie rescue their love? And can the Dupree Room be saved before it’s too late?

Tickets are $13 for adults and $11 for students. They are now available, and can be purchased at: https://sites.google.com/view/whhstheatredepartment/tickets.

This production and the entire WHHS Theatre Season is graciously sponsored by:

Kincaid Regional Theatre Teen Production
March 15-24
[Falmouth, Ky.]

A-Wop Bop A-Loo Bop takes us back to the late 1950’s as Rock & Roll is taking the airwaves by storm. Roberta “Ruby” Lester and her friends are spunky teenagers with dreams of making it big in the music business. But sometimes dreams don’t go as planned. When the local radio station announces that “Rock‘n’Roll has got to go”, the kids take a stand for the music they love.

In the tradition of Hairspray, A-Wop Bop A-Loo Bop tells an original story based around real events in the late ’50’s and early ’60’s Rock & Roll era. This show offers plenty of roles, along with a flexible ensemble you can tailor to your casting needs. Featuring hit songs like “Rock Around The Clock”, “Jailhouse Rock”, “Tutti Frutti”, “Up On the Roof”, “The Loco-Motion”, “I’m Sorry” and “Land Of 1000 Dances”, this new jukebox musical will get a whole new generation of rockin’ around the clock!

MATILDA JR at Vandalia Youth Theatre Company, Nov. 17-18

VYTC_MatildaMATILDA JR
Vandalia Youth Theatre Company
Nov. 17-18
Arbogast Performing Arts Center [Troy]

Rebellion is nigh in Matilda JR., a gleefully witty ode to the the anarchy of childhood and the power of imagination! This story of a girl who dreams of a better life and the children she inspires will have audiences rooting for the “revolting children” who are out to teach the grown-ups a lesson. Matilda has astonishing wit, intelligence… and special powers! She’s unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher, the highly loveable Miss Honey. Matilda’s school life isn’t completely smooth sailing, however – the school’s mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves thinking up new punishments for those who don’t abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts, and could be the school pupils’ saving grace!
