The SUPER PICKLE: A Hilarious Musical Parody

Cincinnati’s Own Valerie Witherspoon Debuts Hilarious New Comedy Musical at the Aronoff Center

[Cincinnati, OH] – A homegrown laugh-fest is coming to downtown Cincinnati. The Super Pickle: A Hilarious Musical Parody, created by Cincinnati native Valerie Witherspoon, will debut at the Aronoff Center’s Jarson-Kaplan Theater on Friday, February 27, 2026 at 7:30 PM. The show is presented by Entertainment Events, Inc.

Tickets are on sale now at www.CincinnatiArts.org, (513) 621-2787 [ARTS], and the Aronoff Center Ticket Office. For Group Sales (10 or more), call (513) 977-4155. Ticket prices include all applicable fees and taxes and are subject to change.

Billed as “a hilarious musical parody with a bite,” The Super Pickle is the latest comedy from the creative team behind audience-favorite parodies including Cuff Me: The 50 Shades Musical Parody and Sex n’ the City: A (Super Unauthorized) Musical Parody. This brand-new show combines over-the-top musical numbers, outrageous characters, and a playful nod to the nation’s pickleball craze — all with that signature satirical edge audiences love.

Part musical parody, part pop-culture roast, The Super Pickle is a fast-paced comedy that serves up a ridiculous take on the pickleball phenomenon sweeping the nation. Set on the courts where seasoned veterans face off against eager newcomers, this uproarious show spoofs everything from sports rivalries to over-the-top superhero tropes. With pop-hit parodies reminiscent of “Weird Al” Yankovic, outrageous original songs, and side-splitting humor, it satirizes the pickleball craze while playfully poking fun at tennis traditionalists. From competitive showdowns to lively social games, The Super Pickle is a rollicking good time for theatre lovers, comedy fans, and anyone who’s ever swung a paddle.

Valerie Witherspoon’s return to Cincinnati marks a full-circle moment. After making waves with parodies and original works staged across the U.S., this new production will premiere at the Aronoff — giving Cincinnati audiences the first chance to see what’s sure to be the next comedy cult hit. “There’s nothing better than bringing a brand-new show home,” says Witherspoon, who grew up in Cincinnati before launching a career in comedy theater. “The Super Pickle is outrageous, a little absurd, and totally ridiculous — which feels very Cincinnati to me. I can’t wait for audiences here to see it first.”

Cincinnati Ballet Presents THE GREAT GATSBY Nov. 7-15 at the Aronoff Center

Ballet meets Broadway in this larger-than-life production

Cincinnati, OH (October 8, 2025) – Cincinnati Ballet opens the North American premiere of Septime Webre’s The Great Gatsby at the Aronoff Center for the Arts with a live jazz band, tap dancer, singer, actor, dog, and, of course, Cincinnati Ballet dancers! Join us for eight performances from November 7 – 15. It’s The Great Gatsby like you’ve never seen it before!

Internationally acclaimed choreographer and Hong Kong Ballet Artistic Director Septime Webre has created a full-length ballet, retelling the classic story of the 1925 novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald. “The Great Gatsby is an unforgettable invitation into the Roaring Twenties, filled with glittering parties, romance, and the irresistible energy of live jazz,” says The Katherine and Richard Rosenthal Cincinnati Ballet Artistic Director Cervilio Amador. “With dazzling choreography, spectacular projections, and a state-of-the-art LED wall, this production immerses audiences in a world that feels larger than life. At its heart, Gatsby’s story of hope, ambition, and longing will resonate long after the curtain falls.” To bring Webre’s grand production to North America, various ballet companies joined forces to share the ambitious costs of shipping and assembling the set from Hong Kong. Kansas City Ballet will perform The Great Gatsby following the November premiere in Cincinnati.

This year also marks the 100th anniversary of the classic F. Scott Fitzgerald novel, The Great Gatsby, that inspired Webre’s full-length ballet version. Cincinnati Ballet will celebrate this anniversary in style, bringing along local singer Mandy Gaines, local actor and narrator Wesley Carman, two tap dancers, and live jazz band, Billy Novick’s Blue Syncopators from Boston, to join company dancers on stage.  The production will also feature an original score by Billy Novick and costumes by Tim Yip, most known for his work on the 2000 martial arts film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, for which he won an Academy Award for Best Art Direction.

Tickets for The Great Gatsby are on sale now, starting at $39. For more information, visit cballet.org or call our Box Office at 513-621-5282.
