Auditions Announced for ANNIE JR Youth Summer Theatre Workshop at Loveland Stage Company

Loveland Stage Company is excited to announce auditions in ONE WEEK for our Youth Summer Theatre Workshop, ANNIE JR.!

LSC is excited to work with individuals ages 8-18 wanting to learn all aspects of the theater. Acting, singing, sound and light setup and execution, stage and set construction, as well as management of crew and set pieces during production.

Performance runs: July 13-15, 2023

Auditions: May 22 & 24, in 30 minute slots from 6:30-9 pm
Callbacks: May 25 at 6:30pm

Rehearsals will be 6-9pm. Rehearsals are June 6-8, 13-15, 20-22, 27-29, and July 5-6. Tech week is July 9-12 with performances July 13-15. No rehearsal on the Fourth of July.

Follow that rabbit to a delightful, entertaining world of childhood fantasies.  Alice journeys into a world of talking animals, comic royalty and races where the contestants run in circles!  There are also the Mad Hatter’s frantic tea party, the watch-carrying White Rabbit, and talking flowers.  Along the way Alice must deal with a sneezing duchess and a baby that turns into a pig!  The finale has Alice watching a trial, but she suddenly finds herself the accused!  The play gives a modern view to an old classic, where nonsense makes quite good sense.

Auditions Announced for TUCK EVERLASTING at Harrison Center for the Arts

HCFTA_logoHarrison Center for the Arts is pleased to announce that we will be having auditions for our upcoming production of TUCK EVERLASTING. Based on the book by Natalie Babbitt, Tuck Everlasting is read by all 5th graders in the Southwest Local School District. The show will be performed at the Martin Marietta Performing Arts Center on Friday, August 4th and Saturday, August 5th. Please note that we will be requiring any performer to be available all day on the following dates: August 3rd, 4th, and 5th.

We will be looking for children, teens, and adults of all ages to audition for our show.

Rehearsals will be taking place on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays starting in June, with added Saturday rehearsals in July. We especially encourage any performers with the following experience to audition: Unicyclists, Jugglers, Rhythmic Gymnasts, Hoola Hoop Specialties, Baton Twirling.

Please familiarize yourself with the show before hand. All auditioners will be asked for the following:

  1. Sing a cut from the show
  2. Read with our director
  3. Learn and perform a brief dance combination

Please bring comfortable clothing to move/dance in. Men, please bring dance boots or character shoes if you have them. Women, please bring character heels if you have them. You can find songs for all applicable roles and ensemble, as well as monologues at the following link:

Callbacks with take place on Tuesday, May 23rd and Thursday, May 25th from 6:30-8:30 as needed. Casting will be announced at the beginning of June.

The cost of participating in the show is $50, current HCA members pay a discounted rate. No one will be turned away from participating in the show due to financial constrictions. If this is an issue for you, please approach a member from our board.

  1. A memorized monologue under 45 seconds
  2. A one-minute verbal personal statement answering the question, “What would you do if you only had 24 hours left to live?”

Cincinnati Opera Presents Free Film Screening of Family-Friendly Opera FIERCE at Blue Ash’s Summit Park on June 2

Cincinnati, Ohio—Cue the popcorn! This summer, Cincinnati Opera is thrilled to bring opera to the big screen at Blue Ash’s Summit Park.

On Friday, June 2, Cincinnati Opera will present a free film screening of its family-friendly opera, FIERCE, at Summit Park in Blue Ash, Ohio. The opera, which follows the trials and triumphs of four teenage girls, received its world premiere in 2022 to enthusiastic critical and audience acclaim. Cincinnati Opera captured the production on video to share with families and young people at public screenings throughout the region.

The June 2 event kicks off at 7:30 p.m. when artists from Cincinnati Opera’s Share the Love Truck Tour will present a live performance at Summit Park’s multicolored glass Canopy. At sunset (approximately 9 p.m.), the screening of FIERCE will begin on the Great Lawn. Then, after the credits roll, guests will be treated to a dazzling drone show with Flightline by Arthur Rozzi Pyrotechnics behind Summit Park’s Observation Tower. Throughout the evening, wine, beer, and seltzer from Higher Gravity bar and bottle shop will be available for purchase.

Description:
Opera goes to the movies at Blue Ash’s Summit Park with this free film screening of Cincinnati Opera’s original opera FIERCE. This family-friendly opera follows four teenage girls through their trials and triumphs, offering an inspiring message about the importance of individuality and the value of friendship. Composer William Menefield’s vibrant score spans a variety of genres including jazz, classical, Latin, and hip-hop, with a libretto by local author Sheila Williams drawn from interviews with Cincinnati teens. The evening also includes a live performance by Cincinnati Opera artists and a dazzling drone show with Flightline by Arthur Rozzi Pyrotechnics.

FIERCE is appropriate for audiences of all ages. The film’s run time is approximately 85 minutes.
