Beauty has two unpleasant sisters with equally nasty husbands who are up to no good! When a poor widow stumbles onto the castle and innocently plucks a forbidden rose, the Beast sentences her to death, but first allows her to return home and bid farewell to her family. After Beauty agrees to go to the Beast’s castle to spare her mother’s life, her siblings hatch a plot to rescue her and steal the Beast’s treasure. There’s just one thing…they hadn’t counted on enchanted furniture! Ages 4 and up.

Flash Mob-Style Theater Add Puppetry to the Mix

QCF_Abroad logo(CINCINNATI) – Queen City Flash, Cincinnati’s flash mob-style theater company, continues its four-play cycle with THE COMPLETE TOM: 3. ABROAD as told by three actors and an array of puppets. Based on the works of Mark Twain and adapted by Trey Tatum, 3. ABROAD runs July 17 through 26, 2015. All performances begin at 8 p.m. Directed by Bridget Leak, this production is produced with assistance from SDC Foundation’s 2015 Denham Fellowship.

Join your favorite characters on a trans-Atlantic voyage in this family-friendly production as Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Finn and Jim set sail in a Jules Verne-like airship. This production includes original artwork by Cincinnati native Daniel Beard, Boy Scouts of America founder and Mark Twain illustrator. THE COMPLETE TOM: 3. ABROAD reunites the works Tom Sawyer Abroad with another adventure found in Life On the Mississippi and related footnotes from Twain’s Chapters from My Autobiography.

The show features local actors Dave Powell, Rico Reid and Trey Tatum, with set and puppet design by Trey Tatum.

All performances are flash mob-style, meaning tickets can be reserved based on the date, time and accessibility level of your choice. At 4:00 p.m. the day of the show, an email will be sent to ticket holders with a map and parking instructions to the secret location. All performances are outdoors. THE COMPLETE TOM: 1 ADVENTURES was presented in August 2014, and 2. HUCKLEBERRY was presented in April 2015. The final installment, 4. DETECTIVE, will be presented in August 2015.

The Denham Fellowship is an annual award given to directors, particularly women directors, to further develop their directing skills by providing financial support for the Director’s fee for a particular project. This fellowship was established in October 2006 by Mary Orr Denham as a bequest to the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF) in honor of her late husband, Reginald H.F. Denham.

Queen City Flash is a new theater company dedicated to open access to the arts and expanding audiences’ sense of theatricality by untethering the arts from physical space, prohibitive costs and traditional notions. Through flash mob-style theater, artists and communities combine to transform environments and unite over stories, picnics and sunsets.

Rough-and-tumble Annie Oakley is the best shot around. A backwoods gal, Annie uses her skill to support her family by selling the game she hunts. When she’s discovered by Buffalo Bill and persuaded to join his Wild West Show, Annie is plucked from obscurity and becomes the toast of Europe. Annie meets her match in Frank Butler, Buffalo Bill’s leading man and star marksman. She falls head over heels for Frank, but soon eclipses him as the main attraction in the show. Her success with a gun makes trouble for Annie’s chance at romance.
