Short Musical PUDDLE JUMPERS Seeking Young Soprano 2 at Drama Workshop

TDW_VERTThe Drama Workshop is proud to announce PUDDLE JUMPERS, the first musical to be a part of Home Brew Theatre, a production of short plays by local authors. The Playwright and Composer is Fred Tacon and the show is Directed by Lynne Aronson.

Imagine three high school girls, on a rainy day, waiting for the school bus.

The role we need to fill is HOLLY, a 2nd Sop. who, rides the bus every day and is very science minded.

INFORMATION ON 2023 TECHNICAL SCHOLARSHIP

WHO: The Charles Avery Memorial- Keystone Technical Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship intended for any student that is continuing their technical theater education in the area(s) of: Set Design, Scenic Design, Construction, or Decor elements, Lighting Design, Sound Design, Costume Design, Makeup/Hair Design elements, Properties, Stage Management, or any combination of the above. The scholarship is open to college Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior students currently enrolled in an accredited bachelor’s degree program. Students must attend a college within 50 miles of the greater Cincinnati area and/or have a connection to one of our ACT Cincinnati member groups.

WHAT: One (1) scholarship is awarded in the amount of $1,000.

WHEN: Submissions are due no later than April 30, 2023 at 11:59pm ET.

All portions of the application must be completed and uploaded at the same time.
 
Required items to be submitted digitally:
  1. Theatre Resume (Word or .pdf)

  2. Biography (Word document, one paragraph, third person)

  3. Current Headshot photo with your full name visible (.jpg or .png file)

  4. Valid email address and phone number

  5. Letter(s) of recommendation

  6. Endorsements of past projects

  7. Pictures and/or short videos of set designs, models, drawings, or other elements you feel are relevant to your submission.

  8. Written essay, addressing the following:

    • How did your set design contribute to the show? ​
    • Describe what research you did for the given project beyond the script?
    • What did the Director/Technical Director say to you that influenced your design?

Choreographer Sought for THE WIZARD OF OZ Young Performers Edition at Guardian Angels School

GAF_SchoolGuardian Angels School is in need of a choreographer for THE WIZARD OF OZ Young Performers Edition.

Performance dates are March 23 & 24, 2023 at 7:00 PM at Guardian Angels School on Beechmont Avenue. Most rehearsals are Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:00-4:30, beginning January 10.

Cast is approximately 70 kids grades Kdg-8th grade. Core cast is about 24 (these kids are 5th-8th grades and meet both Tuesdays and Thursdays).  The ensemble is about 46 (these kids are Kdg-4th grade & only meet on Tuesdays.)

The production package provides a choreography video which features basic ideas for “The Cyclone”, “Munchkinland”, “We’re Off to See the Wizard”, and “Jitterbug”.  These are the tunes which we would like choreographed and taught to our students.

Anyone working with children in the Archdiocese must complete SafeParish training.

INFORMATION ON 2023 SCHOLARSHIPS 

WHO: The Performance scholarships are open to college Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior students currently enrolled in an accredited bachelor’s degree program. Students must attend a college within 50 miles of the greater Cincinnati area and/or have a connection to one of our ACT Cincinnati member groups.

WHAT: Six (6) scholarships are awarded in amounts ranging from $350 – $2,500.

WHEN: Submissions are due no later than January 31, 2023 at 11:59pm ET.

WHERE: Auditions will be held in person on Saturday, February 11, 2023 (with an alternate snow date of Saturday, February 18, 2023) between 10:00am to 4:00pm ET at the Stained Glass Theatre, 802 York Street Newport KY 41071

PREPARE:  Students are to present two (2) contrasting pieces of either Voice, Dance, Instrumental, Acting, or a combination of any two.

Position Overview: After School Classes Teaching Artist

The After School Classes Teaching Artist will join our pool of Teaching Artists and may be offered work teaching a variety of theatre-based afterschool classes during the 2022-23 school year. Teaching Artist may be offered work in any of the schools and organizations we serve which include locations throughout the tri-state area.

The Teaching Artist is responsible for check in and check out, teaching participants, implementing curriculum, communicating with partners onsite at the schools, mentoring Interns, as requested, and collaborating with Playhouse Education Staff and other professional artists. They are responsible for following lesson plans and maintaining a positive and exciting classroom environment.

This is a temporary, seasonal position with an hourly rate of $35. After School Teaching Artist will be paid for teaching time and 30 minutes total of entrance and exit time per day. Hours will be based on individual classes and needs of the school/partner. Afterschool Classes occur three times per year and are typically eight sessions that start between 2:00 and 3:30 and last 30 – 90 minutes.

This position requires travel to school and community center venues including locations throughout the tri-state area. Qualified candidates must be flexible and able to take After School Classes in a variety of locations, therefore, candidates must possess reliable transportation.

The School Workshops Teaching Artist will join our pool of Teaching Artists and may be offered work teaching a variety of theatre-based arts integration and enrichment day in-school classes during the 2022-23 school year. School Workshop Teaching Artists may be offered work in any of the schools and organizations we serve which include locations throughout the tri-state area.

The School Workshop Teaching Artist is responsible for teaching participants using theatre and arts integration techniques, implementing curriculum, communicating with teachers and partners onsite at the schools, mentoring Interns, as requested, and collaborating with Playhouse Education Staff and other professional artists. They are responsible for following lesson plans and maintaining a positive and exciting classroom environment.

This is a temporary, seasonal position with an hourly rate of $35. School Workshops Teaching Artists will be paid for teaching time and 30 minutes total of entrance and exit time per day. Hours will be based on individual classes and needs of the school. In-school residencies are typically five consecutive days and are booked one residency at a time. Each day may have one to four sessions that last 35-55 minutes.

This position requires travel to school locations throughout the tri-state area. Qualified candidates must be flexible and able to take School Workshop assignments in a variety of locations, therefore, candidates must possess reliable transportation.
