Properties Supervisor for NARNIA The Musical Sought by The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati

Properties Supervisor for NARNIA The Musical

The Properties Supervisor will have access to tools, stock, and facility use in our Scenic Shop, located in St Bernard. All rehearsals take place at 4015 Red Bank Rd until load in at The Taft Theatre in downtown Cincinnati.

In return for Properties Supervisor Services, the stipend will be $3500.

This person will shop for necessary materials and be responsible for tracking materials and rental budget. The Properties Supervisor will have access to a tax-exempt form and will receive reimbursements or coordinate with the Director of Production on purchasing. The Properties Supervisor must turn in receipts to the Co-TD/Scenic Charge Artist by the end of each week. This person should be able to create props within a given deadline and in adherence with the production schedule.

December 9 – December 18, 2023: Show Run (At Taft Theatre)
December 18, 2023: Strike (At Taft Theatre)

The Properties Supervisor will report directly to the Co-TD/Scenic Charge Artist and works closely with all shop team members. This person will work with power tools, basic electrics, and utilize carpentry, woodworking, foam sculpting, artistic painting, sewing, hemming, and upholstery skills for the properties. The Properties Supervisor will coordinate the strike of props and return to storage or owner. Prior experience with AirTable is a plus.

Costume Shop Manager (Full-Time)

Position Overview:
The Costume Shop Manager will assist the organization in fulfilling its mission of educating, entertaining and engaging audiences of all ages through professional theatrical productions and arts education programming. The Costume Shop Manager will be directly responsible for managing the daily operations of the costume shop; coordinating all costumes for tour and mainstage shows as well as coordinating all PR/Marketing costume needs throughout the season.
The Costume Shop Manager will be directly responsible for managing the Costume department. The Costume Shop Manager oversees our stock and our costume shop. The Costume Shop Manager will be responsible for hiring and managing all subcontractors including wardrobe, dressers, and the general over-hire of stitchers, cutters, drapers, pattern-makers, wig masters, and make-up personnel. The Costume Shop Manager will be the primary shop contact with guest designers, coordinating purchases of shop and show materials.
The Costume Shop Manager reports directly to the Director of Production. Direct reports to this position are the Asst. Costume Shop Manager and Costume Shop Assistant.

Responsibilities:
The Costume Shop Manager responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Facilitates design and garment creation for each production
  • Collaborates with designers to create cost effective costumes
  • Work with Director of Production to prepare and maintain fiscal documents for the Costume Shop
  • Work within the assigned budget by tracking costume material, supply, and labor budgets
  • Monitor and reconcile costume shop expenditures
  • Attend scheduled production, design meetings, dress parade, costumed rehearsals, tech and dress rehearsals
  • Work with Director of Production and Asst. Costume Shop Manager to establish build schedules for Mainstage and Touring shows
  • Expedite garment completion and production within scheduled deadlines
  • Oversee the completion of costumes created for the stage
  • Purchase and manage costume shop supplies, fabrics, and materials
  • Provide maintenance for production equipment, including repairs and replacement
  • Generate costume fitting schedules and supervise/alter garments with Asst. CSM and CSA
  • Hire dependable stitchers, make-up artists, wig masters, and additional over-hire
  • Outsource specialty costume commissions as necessary
  • Maintain the organization of the costume shop and vault
  • Work with the Operations Manager on projects for the maintenance of the TCT Shop
  • Schedule costume transport with a company van, or a rented vehicle
  • Costume and fit actors for promotional appearances and photo shoots
  • Clean, re-stock and repair costumes, costume props, and accessories
  • Fulfill general costume requirements for TCT Workshops
  • Provide guidance, supervision, and feedback to support staff. Maintain a safe, healthy and clean work environment in all costume spaces
  • Other duties as assigned

Ideal and Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to take initiative, multi-task, and work graciously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to work with diplomacy and tact and build relationship with people from a wide variety of backgrounds
  • Ability to build, nurture, and foster relationships with other staff members and guest designer/directors
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate the need for technical support for various events or performances
  • Collaborate and communicate with fellow staff members
  • Experience in foam work, wigs and make-up a plus.
  • Experience managing a costume shop and working with costume designers
  • Ability to drive a 12-person van is a plus.
  • Education Level – Bachelor of Fine Arts or equivalent work experience.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary range: $49,000-54,000.
  • Health, vision and dental benefits available, partially subsidized by employer contributions, after a
    waiting period.
  • 403(b) retirement plan participation available, after a waiting period, with eligibility for an
    employer match after one year of credited service.
  • Generous PTO based on years of service.
  • Generous paid holiday schedule.

Call for 2024-2025 Season Directors at CenterStage Players

CSP_logoCenterStage Players is now accepting applications for Directors for our 2024-2025 season! We are searching for creative and talented directors, both experienced and new, who aren’t afraid to take a risk. We are open to comedy, drama, farce, and musical submissions and are particularly interested in rarely performed shows, original works, and “edgy” scripts. We would especially love to have a musical in our 24-25 season. You can see the list of our previous productions on our website – http://www.centerstageplayersinc.com.

We are aiming to produce three (3) shows next year. Our usual home at Lockland High School is still under renovations, so we will be on the move once again next season, intending to keep our slots at the Dunham Arts Center (Sunset) and the Evendale Bell Tower Pavilion (Tri-County) for the season. With that in mind, please suggest shows that could be produced in a variety of venues.

Directors Sought for 2024-25 Season at Village Players

VP_new logoVillage Players of Fort Thomas is now accepting directing applications for our 2024-25 season!

For nearly 60 years, Village Players has produced plays and musicals in the heart of Fort Thomas. Our theater is an intimate three-quarter thrust stage, immersing audiences in the magic of community theatre

In keeping with our mission of striving to appeal to a broad audience, Village Players will be producing a Fall Show, a Holiday Show, a Winter Show, and a Spring Show. Exact production dates for this 2024-25 season to be determined at a later date.

Please see below for a list of plays that are under consideration by Village Players for the 2024-25 season. There are comedies, dramas, and plays for the holidays, with roles to be found for all ages. We encourage you to read any or all the plays under consideration, however it is not necessary to read all the plays to apply.

Seeking Paid Vocalists/Actors for Holiday Cabaret at The Ghostlight Stage Company

TGSC_logoThree actors/vocalists are needed for The Ghostlight Stage Company’s upcoming Holiday Cabaret performance on December 22 to sing solos, duets and trios. We encourage performers from all different backgrounds and with all different singing styles to submit materials for consideration. We strongly encourage BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ performers to submit their work, as we seek to uplift the voices of underrepresented artists.

Performance Venue: The Know Underground Stage

Rehearsal Space: First Financial Bank in Covington, KY

Contract: Nonunion

Pay Rate: $320 stipend (no more than 20 hours of in-person work so this stipend equates to $16+/hour)

Production: The Ghostlight Stage Company’s Holiday Cabaret

Director/Cabaret Emcee: Alyssa Batsakis

Music Director: TBD

This is a holiday cabaret that will feature solos and small group numbers. All songs will be either holiday themed, winter themed, or directly pulled from a musical that takes place in the winter/during the holidays. The performance will take place on the underground cabaret stage at The Know.

All auditions will be held via self tape submission.

What to Prepare: Please submit 2 contrasting songs of 1-2 minutes in length each that are either holiday themed, winter themed or come from a musical that’s set during the holiday season. If you are a singer-songwriter and would like to submit an audition using one of your own original songs that fits within the themes of the cabaret, you are highly encouraged to do so. In your video submission please state your name, pronouns, where you are based and if you have housing available in the Cincinnati area, followed by your 2 songs. Songs you submit with your audition should be reflective of you as a performer and may possibly be used in the final cabaret performance.

Deadline for Submission: Videos will be accepted on a rolling basis from now until October 20, 2023 at 5pm EST. All casting decisions will be made by October 27, 2023.

In the form, you will be asked where you are currently based, if you have housing available in the Greater Cincinnati area during the time of production and ALL CONFLICTS you may have between December 16-22, 2023. You will also be asked to upload a copy of your updated headshot and resume. A place to include a link to your video audition will also be on the form. This video audition link can be an unlisted youtube link or a google drive link. Please double check that your video link is viewable by anyone with the link so we do not need to follow up to gain access.

The Ghostlight Stage Company is not able to provide housing or travel compensation to any cast or creative team member at this time. Please do not apply if you will require this.

Production Schedule:
1st Possible Rehearsal: December 16, 2023
Opens/Closes: December 22, 2023

There will be 3-4 rehearsals that run approximately 6pm-9pm EST between December 16-20. A tech/final dress will be from 6pm-10pm on December 21. The performance will be on December 22 and performers will be needed from approximately 6pm-10pm, which includes: call time, performance and a small strike afterwards.
