Auditions Announced for FOUR OLD BROADS at Fairfield Footlighters

fflAuditions announced for Fairfield Footlighters upcoming production of FOUR OLD BROADS.

Directed by John Vanderplough
Produced by Dan Schindler

Retired burlesque queen Beatrice Shelton desperately needs a vacation – and NOT another trip up to Helen, Georgia to see that “precious little German village for the umpteenth time.” A Sassy Seniors Cruise through the Caribbean may be just the ticket if she can just convince her best friend, Eaddy Mae Clayton, to stop praying and go with her. Unfortunately, things have not been very pleasant at Magnolia Place Assisted Living since Nurse Pat Jones began working there. A mystery unfolds with laughter as the gals try to outsmart the evil Nurse Pat Jones and figure out why so many residents have been moved to “the dark side,” what exactly IS that mysterious pill, and what happened to Doctor Head? If they can solve the mystery, they may make it to the cruise ship after all.

Roles available:

  • Beatrice Shelton – Senior citizen; a former stripper with an attitude.
  • Eaddy Mae Clayton – Senior citizen; a former nurse and “religious” lady.
  • Imogene Fletcher – Senior citizen; the newest resident at Magnolia Place.
  • Maude Jenkins – Senior citizen; a funeral and soap-opera-obsessed frump.
  • Sam Smith – Senior citizen; former Elvis impersonator and all-around Casanova.
  • Pat Jones – A rude and pushy nurse/director of Magnolia Place; stage age 30-40s.
  • Ruby Sue Bennett – A quiet, romance-novel-loving nurse; stage age 30s.

Auditions will be cold readings from the script.

Rehearsals will be two to three nights a week, dependent on cast availability, beginning in mid-April. Please come to auditions with a list of possible conflicts for April through the final weekend of May.

Performances are Friday, May 24th at 7:30pm, Saturday, May 25th at 2:00pm and 7:30pm, and Sunday, May 26th at 2:00pm.

Brighton, England. 1963. Change is in the air, and Francis Henshall is looking to make his mark. Fired from a skiffle band and in search of work, he finds himself employed by small-time gangster Roscoe Crabbe, in town to collect a fee from his fiancee’s gangster father. But Roscoe is really Rachel, posing as her own dead brother, herself in love with Stanley Stubbers (her brother’s killer) who, in turn, becomes our hero’s other ‘guvnor’. Fighting a mounting sense of confusion, Francis goes out of his way to serve both bosses. But with the distractions of a pneumatic book keeper, a self-important actor and select members of the criminal fraternity (not to mention his own mammoth appetite) to contend with, how long can he keep them apart? Richard Bean’s hilarious comedy received 5-star reviews from every London newspaper and was the hit of the 2012 Broadway season.

Production dates: April 19-28

BPI_logoBeechmont Players, Inc. Announces Auditions for DEATH BY FATAL MURDER, a comic thriller by Peter Gordon

Directed by jef brown
Produced by Pam Kaesemeyer

February 12th & 13th at 6:30p.m.

Cherry Grove United Methodist Church
1428 Eight Mile Rd
Cincinnati, OH 45255

Inspector Pratt’s record of crime detection at Bagshot House isn’t enviable. On his two previous visits, the body count mounted, as he looked on, hopeless and helpless. Now, he’s back – and, as usual, chaos reigns supreme. Pratt meets Nancy Allwright, the new owner of the house, and is soon embroiled in yet more mystery and mayhem, aided and abetted by Miss Maple and Constable Thompkins.

The cast will consist of four actors and four actresses, 20s and older:

  • Inspector Pratt – middle-aged, clumsy, inept.  British.
  • Constable Thompkins – shy, but capable.  British.
  • Enzo Garibaldi – Italian, with an eye for the ladies.
  • Squadron Leader Roger (Stiffy) Allwright – devil-may-care RAF Officer.
  • Nancy Allwright – bright, open and friendly.  British.
  • Ginny Fahrquar – Annoyingly posh, with an annoying laugh.  British (of course).
  • Miss Joan Maple  ‘mature’ local tweedy crime-solver.  British.
  • Blodwyn Morgan – middle-aged. Overwhelming.  Welsh.

Death by Fatal Murder will be staged May 3-11, 2024 at the Anderson Center.

Auditions will consist of readings from the script.
