NET Announces Auditions for TRAGEDY: A Tragedy

NET

Due to the large number of actors who are not able to attend Friday’s audition, we are moving the audition to Monday April 28, same time and location.  THERE WILL BE NO AUDITION ON FRIDAY.

New Edgecliff Theatre is seeking actors and actresses for their 2014 Cincinnati Fringe production of “TRAGEDY: a tragedy” by Will Eno, directed by NET Associate Artistic Director Mark Seamon.

Auditions will be held at The Cabaret at Below Zero Lounge at 1122 Walnut Street on Monday April 28 from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. Auditions will include a monologue if you have one prepared and readings from the script.

“The sun has set over streets of houses, government buildings and American backyards everywhere. The world is dark. A news team is on the scene. Their report: someone left the lawn sprinklers on; someone’s horse is loose; a seashell is lying in the grass; dogs run by. The Governor issues excited statements appealing for calm. It is night-time in the world. Everyone’s afraid. Everyone doesn’t know if the sun, once down, will ever rise again. But there is a witness, and the witness will speak.”

This ensemble piece features 5 characters that can be played by actors and actresses of any age over 21, any race or type. Rehearsals and performances will run May through early June.

To schedule an appointment, email mseamon@newedgecliff.com.

SCCT Holds Auditions for PRIDE & PREJUDICE and BUILDING BRIDGES IN OUR TOWN

Sinclair Theatre Holds Open Auditions for Two Shows

SCT_LOGOSinclair Theatre will hold open auditions for both Jane Austen’s PRIDE & PREJUDICE and a devised theatre piece, BUILDING BRIDGES IN OUR TOWN on May 5th beginning at 6 p.m. in the Black Box Theatre located on the fourth floor of building 2 on Sinclair’s downtown campus. You must register online for an audition time slot at: www.sinclair.edu/theatreauditions. Signing up for one time slot registers you for both auditions.

Callbacks for BRIDGES will be May 6th and for PRIDE & PREJUDICE on May 7th.

Open auditions means you do not have to be a Sinclair student or theatre major to audition as long as you are prepared with the following requirements and are willing to commit to a rigorous rehearsal schedule if cast.

To audition for PRIDE & PREJUDICE, memorize a 1-to 2-minute classic or contemporary comedic monologue. Performance dates are: Sept. 28 through Oct. 4, 20-14 in Blair Hall. Director is Kimberly Borst.

To audition for BUILDING BRIDGES IN OUR TOWN, you must write your own 1-minute monologue that will answer one of these prompts:

  • “Describe a personal experience that is unique to Dayton.”
  • “My Dayton neighborhood is unique because…”

For the Bridges audition you may have your original, written monologue in hand, but it is expected that you will not be reading, but performing it. This devised project, inspired by Thornton Wilder’s Our Town will be written by the cast (beginning fall semester) and performed May 29-30, 2015 in Blair Hall. Director is Gary Minyard, education and engagement director for the Victoria Theatre Association.

About The Show
Inspired by the original 1936 film of the same name, this raucous musical comedy takes a tongue-in-cheek look at the hysteria caused when clean-cut kids fall prey to marijuana, leading them on a hysterical downward spiral filled with evil jazz music, sex and violence. You won’t be able to resist the spoofy fun of REEFER MADNESS. The addictive and clever musical numbers range from big Broadway-style showstoppers to swing tunes like ‘Down at the Ol’ Five and Dime’ and the Vegas-style ‘Listen to Jesus, Jimmy,’ featuring J.C. Himself leading a chorus of showgirl angels. This dynamic show will go straight to your head! REEFER MADNESS is a highly stylized and satirical political commentary. It contains adult humor, religious parody, and drug use, as well as suggested violence and sexual explicitness. It therefore may be inappropriate for younger performers and audiences.\
