Auditions Announced for 2015-2016 Resident Dance Company at Exhale Dance Tribe

Exhale Dance Tribe is rooted in rhythmic storytelling, existing to leave an emotional imprint on our audiences. Exhale is currently seeking dancers for the 2015-2016 season. Auditions are being held for Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Free Form/Authentic Movement, Modern and Contemporary style dancers. Male dancers encouraged.

Auditions Announced for NUNSENSE: The Mega-Musical Version by Rivertown Players

  • If you want to audition for a speaking role, readings will be provided.

Mega-NUNSENSE starring the original five nuns features five new (male and female) characters including the never-before-seen infamous convent cook, Sister Julia, Child of God. In addition there is a chorus of men, women and children.

  • Sister Mary Regina (Mother Superior) (mezzo) A fiesty overweight Sophie Tucker-type who can’t resist the spotlight.
  • Sister Mary Hubert (mezzo) The second in command – always competing with the Mother Superior.
  • Sister Robert Anne (mezzo) A streetwise tough character from Brooklyn – a constant source of aggravation for the Mother Superior.
  • Sister Mary Amnesia (soprano) A sweet, but spacy nun who has lost her memory and does not know who she is.
  • Sister Mary Leo (mezzo) A novice, who has entered the convent with the firm desire to become the first nun balleria.
  • Sister Julia, Child of God – Convent cook
  • Brother/Sister Brendan – Novice
  • Brother/Sister Luke – Novice
  • Brother/Sister Wilhelm – Convent nurse
  • Father Virgil – Sr. Leo’s Brother
  • Chorus – Nuns, Brother and Students (ages 6 and up)

The parts of Brendan, Luke, Wilhelm and Virgil can be “Sisters” or “Brothers.” Sister Julia, normally played by a woman, can be played by a man impersonating Julia Child.

Auditions Announced for COMPANY at The Carnegie

TC_logo_newRobert is single, but all of his friends are married. He envies their love and companionship, but can’t seem to part with his bachelor ways. On his 35th birthday, they surprise him with a cake and a birthday wish that will leave him pondering the life he’s chosen. Full of lively, idiosyncratic characters, in addition to some of Sondheim’s best known songs, COMPANY is a rollicking and reflective send up of the modern relationship. Both poignant and funny, anyone who’s been in love can find a little of themselves in this contemporary Broadway classic.

Winner of twelve Tony Awards (including “Best Musical”) in 1971 and three Tony Awards (including “Best Revival of a Musical”) in 2007, COMPANY is one of the most beloved musicals of the modern era. Featuring hit songs such as “Another Hundred People,” “Side by Side by Side,” “The Ladies Who Lunch,” and “Being Alive,” COMPANY is musical comedy at its very best.

  •  Please prepare 16-32 bars of a musical theatre song in the style of the show- An accompanist will be provided. Please bring sheet music in the correct key. A cappella auditions, or those with pre-recorded accompaniment, will not be considered.
  • There will be a short movement audition so please dress appropriately.
  • You may also be asked to read from the script.
  • Resume listing theatrical experience and headshot/picture are required to audition.
  • Cast members do not have to be the actual ages of the characters, but must be able to look age appropriate and act accordingly.

  • Robert, Male, Baritone, 30 – 40. A middle class man with a sleek bachelor pad caught between living the single life and watching his married friends live out their different happily-ever-afters… and sometimes not.
  • April, Female, Mezzo, 21 – 30. One of Robert’s girlfriends, an airline hostess, naïve and ditzy.
  • Harry, Male, Baritone, 30 – 45. Sarah’s husband, struggling not to be ‘whipped’, recent recipient of a DWI.
  • Susan, Female, Mezzo, 25 – 35. A sweet, Southern Belle, and adoring wife of Peter.
  • Kathy, Female, Mezzo, 30 – 40. One of Robert’s recent girlfriends who is getting married and moving.
  • Marta, Female, Mezzo, 25 – 35. One of Robert’s girlfriends, in touch with the common man, passionate about her beliefs.
  • Peter, Male, Baritone, 25 – 35. Ideal, Ivy League-type, married to Susan.
  • Jenny, Female, Soprano, 30 – 45. Middle-class, run-of-the-mill wife of David.
  • David, Male, Tenor, 30 – 45. Middle-class, attempting-to-be-modern husband of Jenny.
  • Amy, Female, Alto, 25 – 40. Frantic, anxious, bride-to-be of Paul, who overanalyzes everything.
  • Paul, Male, Tenor, 25 – 40. Calm, cool, loving groom-to-be of Amy, who loves her more than life.
  • Larry, Male, Tenor, 45 – 65. Somewhat oblivious, enjoying-life-in-the-moment, husband of Joanne.
  • Sarah, Female, Alto, 30 – 40. Know-it-all, dieting wife of Harry, who has taken up karate.
  • Joanne, Female, Alto, 45 – 65. Sharp-tongued realist who knows what she wants, and often wants a drink… or ten.

Auditions Announced for THE COMPLETE WORKS OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE (ABRIDGED) at The Ohio Stage Company

OSC_logoAuditions for THE COMPLETE WORKS OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE (ABRIDGED), are being planned now.

Where: New Miami High School, 600 Seven Mile Avenue, Hamilton, Ohio 45011
When: Sunday, May 17, 2015 from 4-6pm. and again on Monday, May 18, 2015 from 7-9pm.
Who: Open to all interested. No previous experience needed. Flexible casting for men and women (no set number or gender).
What: Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Familiarity with Shakespearean language will be needed.

Synopsis: Featured are all 37 of Shakespeare’s plays, meant to be performed in 97 minutes. An irreverent deconstruction of Shakespeare’s work makes a dilly of poor Willy. Fast paced, witty, and physical, it’s full of laughter for Shakespeare lovers and haters alike.

THE COMPLETE WORKS OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE (ABRIDGED) is presented by special arrangement with Broadway Play Publishing, Inc. Rehearsals begin immediately with 6 production dates July 2 thru 11, 2015. Rehearsals and performances will be held at New Miami High School.

Auditions Announced for P.S. YOUR CAT IS DEAD at The Ohio Stage Company

OSC_logoThe Ohio Stage Company will hold open auditions for our premiere production of James Kirkwood’s P.S. YOUR CAT IS DEAD.

Where: New Miami High School, 600 Seven Mile Avenue, Hamilton, Ohio 45011
When: Sunday, April 26, 2015 from 4-6pm. and again on Monday, April 27, 2015 from 7-9pm
Who: Open to all interested. No previous experience needed. Roles include 3 men (ages 20-40) and 1 woman (age 20-40)
What: Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. “Vito” must speak with a heavy New York dialect.

Synopsis: In the West Village of Manhattan, Jimmy Zoole, a thirty-ish actor is having a run of bad luck. He’s been robbed twice (they even took the only copy of his first novel), fired from a play, has a cat on the critical list, a girl friend who’s leaving, and he discovers a burglar hiding in his loft. To avenge his life, he ties “Vito” to the kitchen sink and keeps him prisoner over the long New Year’s Eve.

P.S. YOUR CAT IS DEAD is presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc. This comedy contains adult language and humor and will be presented with a PG-13 content advisory. Rehearsals begin immediately with 6 production dates May 29 thru June 6, 2015. Rehearsals and performances will be held at New Miami High School.
